Ensenada, Mexico was our last port stop on our amazing 2026 Hawaiian Cruise on the Emerald Princess… and somehow my “quiet birthday” plan didn’t stand a chance. 🇲🇽🎂
I didn’t tell anyone it was my birthday this year.

We docked in Ensenada—funny enough, the same port where I was last year for my birthday—
but this time we stayed on the ship and just rested.

No rushing. No big plans. Just a slow, peaceful day at sea level…
and then out of nowhere, I got spoiled beyond spoiled.
The kind of kindness that makes you blink a little and go, “Wait… really?” 🥹

Sometimes the best moments aren’t the excursions…
they’re the ones that find you when you’re not even asking.

Grateful. Soft. Full heart. 💙

Some days the ocean doesn’t whisper — she growls. 🌊💨

The crossing back was chilly and seriously rocky… the kind of day where the ship starts doing the wobble, and you suddenly notice puke bags clipped to the railings like little reminders that not everyone is living their best life. 😅

But Captain “Tippy Shippy” is the real deal.
I’ve sailed with him many times, and I trust him completely.

He even came on and apologized to the first-time cruisers — basically saying, please don’t judge cruising by THIS crossing… this has been one of the roughest he’s seen, and it’s not the norm.

That’s the thing…
Sometimes cruising is smooth sunsets and fancy desserts.
Sometimes it’s wind, waves, and white-knuckle walkers.
Either way — we were safe, we were taken care of, and we made it through.

And me? I kind of loved it. 😅💙

Valentine’s Day… at sea. 🌊❤️
Somehow that hits different.

I’ve been a little quiet lately — catching my breath and catching up — but this day is too sweet not to share.

Between the heart-shaped treats, the Valentine’s menu, and that soft ocean sunset… it wasn’t loud or flashy.
It was simple.
Warm.
And honestly kind of perfect.

Just a reminder that love doesn’t always show up as big moments.
Sometimes it’s dessert on a plate, waves outside the window, and a deep exhale you didn’t know you needed.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the middle of the Pacific. 💙

Oahu said, “Alright DebB… here’s your sunshine.” ☀️😅🌴
After days of clouds and drizzle, this one felt like Hawaii saying, “Okay… here you go.”

I know I’ve been quiet for a minute — life got loud after we got home — but I’m looking back through the Hawaii days and catching up, one memory at a time.

Honolulu was our last Hawaii port day, and we finally did the things my heart needed:
bare feet in sand, hands in the water, palm trees overhead… and then a different kind of beauty — the kind that carries history.

We wandered the palace grounds, stood in front of ʻIolani Palace, and took in the feeling of it all… sunshine on our faces and stories under our feet.

Some days are adventure.
Some days are healing.
Oahu was both. 💙

Hilo didn’t sparkle… she soaked. 🌧️🌴
And honestly? It was kind of perfect.

I’ve been looking back through our Hawaii days and catching up… and this one still makes me smile.

Big Island (Hilo) arrived gray and rainy — the kind of day that makes the ship feel extra cozy.
I stayed onboard, grabbed my spot on the promenade deck, and just watched the shoreline blur into mist.

The brave adventurers who went out?
They came running back through the rain — laughing, drenched, and fully committed. 😅

Me? I chose slow.
Quiet views. Waves and wind. A deep breath that felt like permission to rest.

Not every port day has to be an excursion day.
Sometimes the best memory is simply… being safe, warm, and watching Hawaii be Hawaii. 💙

From “man overboard” to Maui morning calm. 🌊🌺

Earlier in the week, the ocean reminded us who’s in charge.
High winds. Rough seas. A harbor pilot overboard.

It takes your breath away.

Then came Maui.

Wind still in the air.
Clouds resting over the mountains.
That peaceful harbor feeling as we docked in Kahului.

No rushing.
No big plans.
Just walking, wandering, photographing, and breathing it all in.

Hawaii doesn’t owe us perfect weather.
She just lets us be here.

And that’s more than enough. 💙

A missed port is inconvenient. A saved life is everything. 🌊

A couple days ago (February 10th), we attempted Nāwiliwili (Kauai) in high winds and very rough seas.
The Captain tried.
The harbor pilot tried.
But the conditions were simply too unpredictable.

Then we heard the announcement no one ever wants to hear…

“Man overboard.”

It takes your breath away.
You instantly stop thinking about excursions and shopping and coffee runs.

You just pray.

The harbor pilot (Tommy) was safely recovered after being knocked into the water during the maneuver. In seas like that, that outcome is never guaranteed. We were incredibly lucky.

We knew there were passengers onboard needing medical disembarkation, which makes the attempt even more understandable.

We missed Kauai.
But we didn’t lose a life.

And yesterday morning?
Tommy boarded again to pilot us into Maui.

Bravery doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it just does the job… and comes back the next day.

That’s perspective.

Grateful. Always. 💙

I love lots and lots of sea days and we have had 5 of them 😊 A little rocky at times (which I love). When you see the barf bags appear you know it’s getting rough 😅 Great food, ukelele and hula classes, and lots of much needed relaxation. Tomorrow, if the weather stays ok, we will be in Nāwiliwili on Kauai 🥳
