MY PARENTS FORCED ME OUT OF THE HOUSE, FAVORING MY BROTHER—YEARS LATER, I GOT A DESPERATE CALL FROM MY MOM.

I grew up in a pretty strange household. My parents always favored my brother, treating him like the golden child for no reason. It started when we were young and only got worse over time. Like, when my pants were too worn out to wear anymore, my mom said they couldn't buy me new ones because they had just bought my brother a PlayStation. Yeah, that kind of thing.

One summer, I was sent to stay with my grandfather, and honestly, I was so happy there. I even asked to stay longer, and my parents were totally fine with it. But when I wanted to come back home, they told me my room had been turned into a music studio for my brother. I had nowhere to return to, so I stayed with my grandfather.

After he passed away, I was left struggling to find a place to live. My parents didn't even bother showing up to his funeral.

When my boyfriend asked me to spend FOREVER with him, I pictured lazy Sundays and a little house with a tire swing.

So, on our wedding day, we stood at the altar, just seconds away from becoming a family in front of God. The priest asked if anyone objected.
