Is this normal?
So today I took off my acrylics which I’ve had in for quite some time and noticed that a lot of my nail was like a weird bluish purple. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Like the vase of my nail id that weird colour and theh the top/tip part is light. It was bluer before so it seems to have calmed down a bit.

Bumbs on thumbnail
Hi everyone, I have some issues with my left thumbnail. It grows in weird bumbs.

Some background:
-I used to pick the skin around my nails a lot. I found out I don’t do this when I have well manicured hands, so I have been using at home gelac for about 2-3 years.
-The nail of my left thumb was the same as my right is now when I started using the gelac (just slightly uneven).
-I use cuticle oil 3-4 times a week.
-I don’t file the surface of my nails before applying the gelac, I use a peel base. I have only filed the surface of the left thumb nail once or twice to even out the bumbs, and then used a rubber base to fill them in before applying a colour.
-For the last month I have not used any product (except for cuticle oil), to let my nails rest. I have kept them relatively short. But as you can see I have started picking my skin again.

I read online that trauma to the nail bed or cuticle can cause the bumbs, so I am quite confused it has gotten worse when I stopped skin picking. The skin picking makes me insecure and I find it makes my fingers look gross, so I really wanna have nicely manicured hands again - however my (nail) health is more important.

How can I fix my flaky nails?
Hi all! I've struggled with flaky and "two-layer" nails for years. Basically, I noticed that my pointer and thumb nails on both hands split, and grow in two separate layers. I have desperately tried everything to fix this, to no avail, including applying cuticle oil consistently, wearing gloves when washing dishes, applying nail serums like OPI Repair Mode, not painting my nails, using only a glass nail file to file my nails instead of a clipper... the list goes on. Generally, my nails are thin and flexible, but not brittle. I don't pick or chew my nails at all.

Does anyone else suffer like this? I would love any tips for how to fix this permanently, and I'm pretty sure I don't have hypothyroidism.

Slammed my thumb in a car door
I slammed my thumb in a car door about 5 hours ago, the pain is unbearible. Its the middle of the night here and i just arrived on holiday in portugal. Anyone know why this is so damn agonising, I've had appendicitis and this is worse.

What is this sliver of pain??
Hello! I have finally kicked my nail biting habit and have been growing and caring for my nails for the past two months. I have been careful not to ever file sidewalls and have been oiling them a ton.

This week I noticed some pain on my thumbnail and saw this sliver on the edge that seems to be the cause. What is this and how do I get rid of it permanently? Is it a growth issue? None of my other nails have this. Help!

Brave toenail.
I was fighting nail fungus on my big toenail for many years until finally the antifungal pills killed it. Well, at least that's what I'm thinking as it looks and feels differenly. Often for many many months there was no any nail at all and then eventually when it started to grow healthy at the end of last year, early this year the left side was more like the right side empty underneath so i chopped it off and eventually the left side grew out as it is now. and the right side was sooooo much better, i thought it will grow fine but it decided that it will just get worse like i already haven't had enough. It has been cut to the minimum every time it grows a little and no surprise - every time it just grows out like this. I've left for the last 2-3 months it now as you can see it's long as I just don't know what to do. I want it healthy and pretty and just normal. It's already now different from the other one. I can't clean it properly, it makes me eugh and it feels dirty and just disgusting to me, can't look at it. I've been told to tape it so it doesn't ingrow and also use oil which I've been doing daily. I don't wanna lose hope that eventually it will grow back normal. Just need some advice and maybe some delusional assurance please.

My nails are flaking in multiple directions.
I began painting them to stop them from getting snagged, but it doesn't last long. My index finger nail is peeling up and down; it's been difficult trying to keep it from snagging, even with nail polish.

I've been using Sally's advanced hard as nails top coat with china glaze base coat. Essie/Holo Taco for color and to hide the peeling

If anyone could offer any nail care advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Started as a white spot, then sort’ve flaked up when buffing over my nail.. is my nail going to fall off?
Let me add that area which appears to be exposed nail bed is also not at all sensitive and hard to the touch, but not as hard as the rest of my nail. I haven’t pulled at it other than clipping off parts that lift and hang/catch on clothes/fabric. How is this going to grow out?
