Neon signs became symbols of optimism and progress in postwar Warsaw, lighting up a city rebuilding itself after WWII. During the communist era, neon signs brightened the grayness of everyday life and became quiet expressions of individuality, creativity, and freedom. The Neon Museum in Warsaw is a love letter to old Warsaw signage, rescued, restored, and glowing again.

Warsaw holds one of the most important collections of medieval African Christian art in the entire world.

Polish archaeologists discovered a buried cathedral in Faras, Sudan. Conservators saved 100s of fragile wall paintings which you can see in the gallery. Each fragile painting was carefully removed and reconstructed piece by piece.

If they hadn’t discovered this, the entire site would’ve been disappeared underwater forever.

This intersection of African history, archaeology, and Polish cultural preservation can be viewed at National Museum in Warsaw.
