Patrick Mahomes sounds increasingly confident that he’ll be ready for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 1 showdown with the Denver Broncos. 👀🏈

After Andy Reid said the Chiefs are taking Mahomes’ recovery “day by day,” Mahomes made it clear that being ready for Week 1 has been the plan all along.

Mahomes has been a full participant in training camp while working his way back from the torn ACL and LCL he suffered last December. He says he’s been able to make quick, reactionary cuts and has “felt great doing it.”

Dave Canales isn't hedging on his quarterback. The Panthers head coach called Bryce Young the team's franchise QB right now — and pushed the contract conversation straight to the front office.

Young is eligible for a second deal but doesn't have one yet. Carolina has the belief on record; the paperwork is somebody else's department.

Patrick Mahomes says he's confident he'll be out there when the Chiefs open against the Broncos on Sept. 14 — days after Andy Reid said he was "literally taking it day by day" on his quarterback's status.

Cleared for training camp after tearing his ACL and LCL in December, Mahomes has been a full participant all summer and likely won't take a preseason snap. "This has always been the plan," he said.
