I recently onboarded a client
who’d been running Google Ads on his own.
~$1,000/month in ad spend
At first glance, his account looked active.
But once I stepped in, here’s what I found:
It was chaos.
➥ 1,000s of unfiltered keywords
➥ No negative keywords
➥ Zero conversion tracking
➥ No call tracking. No form tracking. No structure. No signal.
He told me:
“I just want more calls and form submissions.”
But the system was never set up to even track them, let alone optimize.
Even worse... his “conversions” were newsletter signups and irrelevant social media clicks... imported from GA4.
Totally irrelevant.
The ads?
Old. Generic. No spark.
No sitelinks. No offers.
No reason for anyone to click.
And yet… he was spending money.
Daily.
Blindly.
He had no way of knowing what was working — or what wasn’t.
What I Did:
➨ Built real conversion actions: Phone calls + Form submissions
➨ Scrapped the junk — focused only on high-intent keywords
➨ Layered in negative keywords to plug the leaks
➨ Cleaned up campaign structure for better signal strength
➨ Rewrote ad copy for clarity, benefit, and action
➨ Added sitelinks, callouts, extensions — everything Google loves
Now?
He knows exactly which campaigns bring leads.
He knows where his money’s going.
And most importantly — his phone is ringing again.
The moral?
If you’re not feeding Google the right signals — you’re not advertising.
You’re just… donating.
If you’re running Google Ads but aren’t sure what’s working and what’s not, I can help
