EOC and LCHS Runners Compete in Local Butterfly 5K

The EOC and LCHS cross-country programs are just over a week into summer training, and several runners recently competed on their own in the annual Waynesboro Butterfly 5K.

Leading the way were E.O. Coffman runners Janson Shrader and Southerlin Weaver, who were the overall male and female winners of the event. Shrader, an eighth grader, enters the fall season after finishing as the state runner-up in cross country last year.
Weaver, a rising seventh grader, finished third individually at last season’s state cross-country meet and helped lead the EOC girls to a state runner-up team finish. She added another local race victory with her overall win at the Butterfly 5K.

Other EOC and LCHS runners competing in the event included Kadence Gray, who finished second in her age division, along with Aubree Dollar, Sophia Cortes, Sophia Sommers, and Jodi Cryer.

The EOC and LCHS cross country teams continue preparations for the upcoming season this fall.
