What a fantastic day! Fun in the sun, and a few FIRST PLACE AWARDS IN THE STATE BROADCASTING CONTEST!!!!! We’ve never entered anything in the Oklahoma Scholastic Media competition, and walked away with so many distinctions we can’t even name them all. Mykia and Calvin placed first in commentary, and Kaydence Aplin (and staff) won first in team broadcasting for the 77th Army Band concert coverage. Everyone else won second, third or an honorable mention, with Cody Gibson racking up at least a half dozen certificates for commentary, entertainment, promotional videos and more. We will provide a full list of results very soon, but we are so proud to be Highlanders, today and every day. Our team has worked hard this year, and it shows. A huge “Thank you” is due to and Mr. Overby, for allowing us to ride to Spring Media Day with the ever-talented MMS broadcast crew- Hudson Young also won an award for his soccer coverage - our principal, LPS Communications and the Lawton Public Schools Foundation, who has provided grant support on multiple occasions for our program. A donation to our team is an investment, as the students will take provided resources and turn them to gold. Cheers to this year, and we look forward to bringing more fantastic content to you in the future!

Give it UP for your broadcasting team! The results for November’s Oklahoma Scholastic Media broadcasting contest are in, and MHS received two awards! Cody and Elihu earned an “excellent” distinction for their talent show promo video while Kaydence and CJ’s holiday tree decorating segment received a “distinguished merit” after review. Cody and Elihu May now enter their selection in the state contest this April! Stay tuned for their next round of content this week!

Congratulations to… US?! The Oklahoma Scholastic Media hosts monthly contests for journalism and media students, and six were honored for their work done in October. Those who receive an “Excellent” distinction are now eligible to submit for the state contest in April! Great work, and thank you .ps and for supporting our students!
