-Update on Walmart Shooting -
8-21-25 1535 hrs.
On 8-20-25 at approximately 1015 Lawton Police Officers responded to a Fed Ex vehicle in the canal of Ferris and Waterford. The vehicle had been taken from 12 NW Sheridan during a delivery. The suspect later identified as Bob Morton fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
Morton has been identified as the suspect in the Walmart shooting later that same day. Morton took a firearm off of a patron’s waist who was using the self checkout registers. Morton then fired several shots inside the store near the North entrance.
Morton was transported by ambulance to the hospital after a self-inflicted gunshot wound where he died from his injury.
The Criminal Investigation Division has advised that this is an ongoing investigation and any information in reference to yesterday’s events can be given to detectives at 580-581-3240.

Update on Incident at Sheridan Walmart
1600 hours
On August 20, 2025, emergency dispatch received several calls reporting gunshots and property damage at the Walmart located at 1002 Sheridan Road. When officers arrived, they quickly made contact with a suspect. While on scene with officers, the suspect fired a self inflicted wound and was transported to the hospital. The suspect’s identity is not being released at this time.
Officers cleared the store and are actively investigating the scene. All individuals involved have been located, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Our top priority is keeping the community safe, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this incident.

The Lawton Police Department along with first responders are investigating shooting that occurred at Walmart on Sheridan Road. We are asking that citizens clear the parking lot. The suspect was transported to the hospital with a self inflicted gunshot wound. There are no other injuries reported at this time.
