TividTV® Movie Distribution’s 🎬 Movie Lab™ is officially in full effect!
Last week, our young filmmakers kicked off Week 1: Story Science, learning that every great film starts long before the camera starts rolling.
Using our filmmaking activity decks, they worked through Character + Goal + Conflict, pulled characters, locations, objects, genres and twists, and took on our Build-A-Movie Challenge. Teams developed their own movie concepts, pitched their ideas, and started shaping the story that will eventually become their class film.
And today we’re taking the next step: Week 2 — Casting, Crew & Performance! 🎥
Students are learning how a real production begins coming together. We’re exploring cast and crew positions, character motivation, blocking, director communication, performance, and “Show, Don’t Tell.” They’ll experiment with how facial expressions, body language, movement, voice and reactions can communicate a story without simply saying what a character feels.
And then comes one of our favorite parts: finding their roles on the crew.
This is what Movie Lab™ is about. We aren’t just showing kids how to use a camera. We’re helping them understand the science, technology, creativity, collaboration and decision-making behind filmmaking—and then giving them a production environment where they can actually apply it.
Week by week, their movie goes from an idea…to a story…to a crew…to a real production.
