🏔️ Gatlinburg Travel Tips: Don’t Just Stick to the Main Strip! 👀✨

If you’re heading to Gatlinburg, here’s one of my BIGGEST tips:

Take your time and look around! 👏

There is seriously something hidden around almost every corner. 🏔️✨

Yes, you have all the big attractions and the famous Gatlinburg strip… but there’s SO much more to discover!

🎯 Side attractions you might not have planned for
⛳️ Mini golf courses everywhere
🍴 Amazing restaurants & local food spots
🛍️ Unique shops and little finds
🎢 Fun attractions for the whole family
🏔️ Beautiful mountain views
🚶‍♀️ Walkable areas where you can stumble across something completely unexpected

And honestly? Some of my favorite Gatlinburg moments have come from not having every minute planned.

You might be walking down the street looking for one thing and suddenly find a restaurant you want to try, an attraction you didn’t know existed, or a little shop you HAVE to check out. 😂

So when you’re planning your Gatlinburg trip, don’t just make a list of the “must-dos.”

Leave a little room to explore. ❤️

✨ Meet Samantha & Jason — the people behind Starr Bound Vacations! ✈️❤️

So… how did Starr Bound Vacations even start?

Honestly, it started with something we’ve always loved doing together: traveling. 🌎

Some of our favorite memories have happened on vacation — from our first little adventures together, to our honeymoon at Walt Disney World, to cruises, theme park trips, exploring new destinations, and finding those little experiences that make a trip unforgettable. 🏰🛳️🌴

And somewhere along the way, we realized we were ALWAYS talking about our trips.

Where we stayed.
What we ate.
What we would do differently.
What was totally worth the money.
What we’d skip next time.
And, of course… where we wanted to go next. 😂

Eventually, we thought, “Why not share all of this with other people?”

And that’s where Starr Bound Vacations was born. ✨

What started as a love for travel has grown into a place where we can share our adventures, travel tips, honest opinions, foodie finds, vacation planning ideas, and all the destinations we’re dreaming about next.

We’re still figuring things out, still making memories, and definitely still adding places to our never-ending travel bucket list. 😂✈️
But that’s the fun of it.

✈️ What I Pack in My Personal Item 🎒

If I’m flying, my personal item is basically my little travel survival kit 😂

Here are a few things I NEVER want to be without:

🎧 Headphones
🔋 Portable charger + charging cord
💧 Empty water bottle to fill after security
💊 Any medications I need
🧴 Lip balm + a few small toiletries
📱 Phone + wallet
🧦 Comfy socks for the flight
🍫 A few snacks
📖 Something to keep me entertained
👜 And a small pouch to keep all the little things organized

And one of my biggest rules: anything I absolutely cannot afford to lose goes in my personal item—not my checked bag! 👏

Because if my luggage decides to take its own vacation… at least I’m prepared. 😂✈️

🥃🍫 Nashville Date Idea: Whiskey, Wine & Chocolate! 🍫🥂

Looking for a Nashville date night that’s a little different from dinner and drinks? Add this one to your list! 👇

Head to Nashville Barrel Company Downtown Whiskey Distillery - Bourbon & Wine Bar for their Whiskey / Wine & Chocolate Pairing Experience. ❤️

Here's the fun part: you can choose a flight of Bourbon, Rye & Agave spirits OR go with three wines if whiskey isn't your thing. Then your guide pairs each pour with a different chocolate and walks you through how the flavors complement each other. 🥃🍷🍫

And apparently, it's the experience that has people who "don't think they like whiskey" realizing they might have been wrong. 👀😂

It's about 30 minutes, so it's an easy experience to add onto a downtown date night before dinner, a show, or exploring Nashville.

Planning a vacation is exciting… until you realize there are about a million little things to figure out. 😂 Save this checklist for the next time you're ready to book a getaway!

☐ Pick your destination 🌎
Where are you going, and what time of year makes the most sense?

☐ Set your budget 💰
Don't forget to account for flights, hotels, food, activities, transportation, and those "oops, I bought a souvenir" moments. 😂

☐ Book your transportation ✈️🚗
Flights, rental car, airport transportation, or whatever you'll need to get there and around.

☐ Book your accommodations 🏨
Hotel, resort, vacation rental, cruise, etc. Check the location and cancellation policy before booking!

☐ Make your must-do list 📝
Pick the experiences, restaurants, attractions, and activities you absolutely don't want to miss.

☐ Make reservations 🍽️🎟️
Popular restaurants, excursions, tours, and experiences can book up quickly!

☐ Check travel documents 🪪
Make sure your ID, passport, and any other necessary documents are current.

☐ Plan what to pack 🧳
Check the weather, dress codes, activities, and any destination-specific essentials.

☐ Download your travel apps 📱
Maps, airline/cruise apps, hotel apps, tickets, reservations—you'll thank yourself later!

☐ Don't forget the little things 🔋☀️
Chargers, medications, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and anything you use every day.

🚢🧳 5 Things You NEED to Buy Before Your Next Cruise! 🧳🚢

Cruise cabins are small, storage can be limited, and somehow you always end up needing more outlets. 😂 Before your next cruise, here are 5 things I'd make sure to pack:

🌀 1. Magnetic Fan
For all my fellow fan sleepers—don't forget this! A small magnetic fan can be a lifesaver when you're trying to get comfortable at night. 😴💨

🧲 2. Magnetic Hooks
These are SO handy! They attach to the metal walls of your cabin and give you extra places to hang hats, bags, lanyards, jackets, and more. It's basically vertical storage you didn't know you had! 🙌

🔌 3. Cruise-Friendly Multi-Plug Outlet
Because let's be honest... one outlet is NOT enough for phones, watches, cameras, tablets, and everything else we're bringing onboard. 😂 Just make sure whatever you bring follows your cruise line's current electrical-device rules.

☀️ 4. SUNSCREEN
A no-brainer... until you realize you forgot it. 😅 You are going to be spending plenty of time outside, and buying sunscreen onboard can get expensive. Pack it!

🧳 5. Packing Cubes
Cruise cabins aren't exactly known for having tons of closet space. Packing cubes help keep everything organized and make it SO much easier to unpack and find what you need without turning your entire suitcase upside down.

✨ Bonus tip: Don't wait until embarkation day to figure out what your cruise line allows you to bring. Check their current prohibited-items list before you pack!

🌊🎢 First Time at Disney California Adventure? Save This! 🎢🌊

Heading to DCA for the first time? Here are a few things I wish every first-timer knew before walking through the gates! 👇

🎟️ Have a game plan—but don't over-plan. There’s a lot to see and do, so pick your must-dos and leave some room to explore.
🎢 Don't skip the attractions outside of Avengers Campus & Pixar Pier. Some of the best experiences are spread throughout the park!
🍴 Plan your food stops ahead of time. DCA has some AMAZING food, and you don't want to realize you're starving when the restaurant you wanted is packed.
🌎 Take time to explore the different areas. Buena Vista Street, Grizzly Peak, Cars Land, San Fransokyo Square, and the rest of the park all have their own atmosphere and details worth slowing down for.
🚗 Visit Cars Land after dark. Trust me on this one. The neon lights coming on along Route 66 are one of my favorite little moments in the park. ✨
📸 Don't forget the details! It's easy to rush from attraction to attraction, but some of my favorite DCA memories have come from simply wandering around, taking photos, and enjoying the atmosphere.
🍿 And most importantly... leave room for snacks! 😂

DCA isn't just about checking attractions off your list. Take your time, explore, eat something delicious, and enjoy the little bits of Disney magic along the way. 💙✨

There's no better way to celebrate Frankenstein Day than with a visit to Dark Universe at Universal Epic Universe! 🖤⚡

Step into the shadowy world of Dr. Frankenstein's village and experience a land inspired by some of Universal's most iconic classic monsters. From the eerie atmosphere to the terrifying creatures lurking around every corner, Dark Universe feels like stepping straight into a monster movie. 🎬🧛‍♂️

And of course, you can't talk about Dark Universe without mentioning Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment! ⚡🧟‍♂️ This attraction takes you inside Frankenstein's castle for an encounter with some of the most legendary monsters in Universal history.

If you love classic horror, creepy theming, and a little adrenaline with your vacation, Dark Universe definitely belongs on your Universal Epic Universe itinerary. 👀🖤

Today we're celebrating one of Disney's most practically perfect characters—Mary Poppins! 💙✨

And what better place to celebrate than Disneyland? 🏰

From the charming Victorian-inspired atmosphere of Main Street, U.S.A. to the little bits of Disney magic tucked throughout the park, Disneyland feels like the perfect place to channel a little Mary Poppins magic.

After all, sometimes all it takes is a little imagination, a spoonful of sugar, and a Disney day to make everything feel a bit more magical. ☂️🍬✨
