Early filling stations in Lebanon
1. A number of full-service gas stations opened in the 1920s and ’30s when the number of automobiles increased. Pictured is the Jim Crumb Filling Station at 235 West Commercial (Commercial and Monroe) in the 1920s era.
2. White Rose Station, located at the corner of Commercial Street and Jackson (next to the railroad tracks), is shown here in the late 1920s. David Bell is shown at left. The other man is unidentified.
3. Nelson Station on Route 66 at the southwest corner of Route 66 and Highway 5 in the early 1930s, built by Col. Arthur T. Nelson.
4. Tydol Service Station at West Commercial and Jackson in the 1930s era.
5. Log Cabin Filling Station No. 1 at the intersection of U.S. Route 66 and State Highway 5 (where Walgreens is now located). James Ward Owen was the owner at the time the photo was taken.
6. Bacon Station on Route 66. Later, it became Speaker’s Mobil Gas, and a new building was constructed.
7. Log Cabin Station No. 2, located at Washington and Pearl in the 1930s. It was operated by W.E. Lemery at the time the photo was taken.
