Cynthia Hayden Browning age 97, formerly of Sam Browning Rd., Lebanon, passed away at 8:30 pm Friday, July 4, 2025 at Village of Lebanon.

Born August 13, 1927 in Marion County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Frederick and Mary Alma Mattingly Hayden, her husband, James Samuel Browning Sr., January 4, 2019, a son, Gary Jude Browning, April 2, 2024, a grandson, Daniel Ross Robinson, November 10, 2022, a great grandson, Elijah Ross Robinson, June 1, 2020, a son-in-law, Bill Burke, Feb. 23, 2010, 2 brothers, Tommy and William F. Hayden and three sisters, Monica Hayden, Margaret Skees and Gertrude Browning.

Cynthia was housewife, had worked at St. Mary's College for 10 years, was a teacher's assistant for the Marion County Board of Education. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church where she served in the church choir, was a Eucharist Minister, a member of the Altar Society and the parish council.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Peggy Browning Burke and Annette (Lee) Robinson of Lebanon and T. Rita Browning, M.D.. of Jacksonville, Florida, a son, James Samuel (Ellen Zuernderfor) Browning Jr. of Clearwater, Florida, a daughter-in-law, Christy Browning of Bowling Green, a sister, Charlotte Fenwick of Bardstown, 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral mass for Cynthia Hayden Browning will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Mary with Very Rev. Scott Wimsett and Rev. Jim Graf officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon, Karl and Clayton Robinson, David, Luke and Garret Browning, and Jackson and Brady Benningfield.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Thursday and again from 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Margaret “Kaye” Caldwell, 57, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 14, 1968, in Marion County, Kaye was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, bringing her endless joy and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and cherished for her warmth and dedication to her family.

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, James Spencer Gootee, Sr. and Clara Jean Hill Gootee; one sister, Pamela Michelle Hutchins; one infant brother, Charles Michael Gootee.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Tim Caldwell; four children, Elizabeth Caldwell of Danville, Brandon Caldwell and Brent Caldwell (Ashley), all of Lebanon, and Bradley Caldwell (Chris Lee) of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, Timothy Goff (Mikayla), Taylor Ballard, Auberne Fogle, Payton Caldwell, Jace Caldwell, Jordan Caldwell, Carson Caldwell, and Liam Caldwell; one great grandson, Keenan Luttrell and one great grandson on the way, Tripp Goff; three sisters, Vicky Dean (Bo) of Loretto, Lisa Nalley (Ernie Sallee) of Lebanon, and Robin Miles (D**k Dugan) of Saint Francis; two brothers, Junior Gootee (Vickie) of Campbellsville and Michael Gootee (Tracy) of Loretto.

Funeral Services for Margaret “Kaye” Caldwell will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. Pastor Billy Cross will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Name of Mary Cemetery in Calvary.

The visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home.

Maysville — Mary PamelaLee Arbogast, 68, died June 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Pam was born April 1, 1957, in Lebanon, KY.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pam was a former art teacher at Lexington Catholic High School. She sang in the choir and served as a cantor at St. Patrick’s Church in Maysville.
Pam was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-six years, Paul M. Arbogast Jr.; parents Lawrence Wilbur Lee and Mary Rita Abell Lee; sisters Rita Ann (Leo) Nally,Connie (Butch) Farmer, and Janet (Charles) Anderson; and brothers Larry Lee and Earl (Susan) Lee.
She is survived by son Paul M.Arbogast III; daughter Annabelle Lee (Raya) Arbogast-Bay; and brothers Glenn (Debra) Lee, Dan (Lesley) Lee, and Alan (Judy) Lee.

Louis Randell Thomas, age 90 of Mount Washington, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born September 9, 1934 in Loretto, KY. He formerly worked as an Electrician with The Courier Journal Newspaper. He honorably served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Thomas; his parents, Clifford and Sylvia Ballard Thomas; four brothers, Joseph H. “Joe”, John Donald, James David, and Joseph Clifford Thomas.

Timothy Wayne “Tim” Nalley, age 61, of Bardstown, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Born in Marion County on October 26, 1963, and raised in Loretto, Tim was known for his warm heart, love of family, and passion for classic cars. Tim spent part of his career working at South Central Bell, where he made many lasting friendships. He was an avid car enthusiast, delighting in collecting and displaying model cars. Tim also enjoyed gathering with friends and family for card games, cherishing every moment spent together. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. Tim’s legacy lives on in the memories shared by his loved ones and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Truston and Mary Elsie Ruley Nalley; six siblings, Philip Nalley, Tommy Nalley, Joann Gootee, and infants David, Mary Ann, and John Herbert Nalley.

Gregory Francis Fischer, 74, New Hope, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Norton Hospital in Louisville with loving family members by his side. Born on August 1st, 1950, in Covington, KY, Greg dedicated much of his life serving his community and pursuing his passions. Greg’s career included serving as the HeadStart Director for Central Kentucky HeadStart in Lebanon, where he made a lasting impact on countless families. A lifelong farmer and devoted breeder of thoroughbred horses, he found great joy in working the land and raising champion animals. A member of the New Hope Community, Greg was a founding member and former chief of the New Hope Fire Department. He also served as a board member for the former Boston Water Department, always striving to improve the lives of those around him. Greg shared his love of sports by coaching soccer at Marion County High School, Thomas Nelson High School, and New Haven School, inspiring young athletes with his knowledge and encouragement. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending days at the track. A loyal fan, Greg cheered on the Cincinnati Reds, UK basketball and football, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He will be remembered for his dedication to family, community, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Francis Fischer and Constance Rose Fischer Zimmerman, step father Robert Zimmerman; three siblings, Joseph Fischer, Elizabeth Hambrick, Miriam Kelly; step brother Bob Zimmerman; two brother’s in-law, Howard Smith and Tim Kelly plus one nephew, Timmy Kelly.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Goepferich Fischer, two sons, Joseph Fischer of Nashville, TN, and Gregory Fischer (Lynn) of Narberth, PA; two grandsons, Jackson and Boden; five siblings, Michael Fischer (JoAnne) of Martinsville, IN, Mary Brackman (Mark) of Wilmington, NC, Anne Fischer-Smith of Tracy, CA, Connie Klump (William) of Glen Ellyn, IL, and John Fischer (Penny) of Marietta, GA, step brother Jim Zimmerman (Lorraine) of Apopka, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Father Biju Chathely, C.M.I. will preside.

Ruth Frances Browning, age 91 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. She was born February 20, 1934 in Raywick, KY. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert “Bob” Browning; two children, Jeffery Lee “Jeff” and Bonita Ruth Browning; her parents, James Micajah and Mary Effie Mattingly Malone; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Badgett and Mary Pauline Buckman; five brothers, Clement, Eddie, Robert L., Harry, and Harold Malone.
Survivors include six children, Ronnie Browning (Becky), Donna Thomas (Steve), David Browning (Patti), Geri Lynn Lancaster (Steve), Missy Martin (Dude), and Dale Browning (Jennifer); 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Carolyn Maurice “Recie” Downs, 91, of Louisville passed away peacefully. She was the daughter of the late Joseph William and Mary Josephine Reid born in Holy Cross Kentucky, August 28, 1933.
Carolyn was a gentle devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. She was a retired food Nutritionist for JCPS. An avid quilter for St. Joseph Orphanage over 25 years. She loved God, family, nature and Catholic Picnics.
Other than her parents she was predeceased by her husband Joseph Henry Downs, siblings Mike Reid, J P Reid (Brenda), Gerald Reid (Jewell), Sister Clara Reid OSU-MSJ, Stanley Reid, and brother-in-Law Edward Bryan.
Survivors include June Downs (Steve Bowles), her siblings Bernadette Bryan, Hilman Reid (Darlene), Marcella Bartley and many beloved nieces and nephews.
