In Episode 14 of The Lebanon Star, we sit down with one of Lebanon’s most humble and inspiring community leaders — Kevin Schwieger, founder of Luke 5 Adventures and longtime pastor, neighbor, mentor, adventurer, and encourager. From launching Upward Basketball in Lebanon to global mission work to life-changing adaptive hiking experiences, Kevin has spent decades helping people step into hope.
This episode tells the emotional and powerful story of how a conversation that never happened with a woman named Debbie sparked the idea for Luke 5 Adventures — a ministry that takes individuals with mobility challenges into the heart of God’s creation: Red River Gorge, Hocking Hills, Mammoth Cave, Rocky Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak… even the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Together with volunteers known as Sherpas, specialized equipment called the ROSY (named after Debbie Rosen), and an unwavering “Here I am” spirit, Kevin and his team have completed over 2,000+ hikes, opened 11 chapters, and restored hope to countless families.
This is one of the most moving and purpose-filled conversations we’ve had yet.
