Lee's Summit lost an icon this week. Roby Little — Lee's Summit R-7 School District Hall of Fame educator, Lee's Summit CARES pioneer and one of the most quietly powerful forces for good in this community — passed away June 4. From launching what is now called Project Grad in local schools to helping place mental health counselors in the district, her fingerprints are on so much of what makes Lee's Summit a stronger community. Share this one. Her story deserves to be told again and again.

Phil and Lori Volen never had a plan. A pandemic hobby turned into craft shows, craft shows turned into Comic Cons, and this Thursday they open the doors to Phillori Phigures — a custom minifigure shop in the heart of downtown Lee's Summit.
Six years of festivals. Characters Lego won't make. Framed displays that get you in the feels. And a grand opening one day before Downtown Days.

Tomorrow's Promise Today officially launched its new nonprofit, Today Promises Tomorrow, this week at Bridge Space in downtown Lee's Summit. The initiative focuses on connecting families with resources, building community partnerships and creating support systems that help kids thrive in and out of school. A Lee's Summit North grad made it to Victory Lane Sunday. T.J. Semke was part of Chase Elliott's pit crew at the Wurth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway — and the team delivered, posting its three fastest pit stops of the season on the way to a Cup Series win. Semke graduated from LS North in 2012, where he played wide receiver and linebacker for the Broncos. Not a bad Sunday for a hometown kid.
