Lee’s Summit Police Investigating Roadway Shooting

Lee’s Summit, MO — On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at approximately 1050 hours, a shooting between two vehicles occurred in the southbound lanes of M-291 Hwy at the intersection of Chipman Road. Three suspects wearing dark clothing were seen shooting into the victim’s vehicle that was stopped at the intersection of M-291 and Chipman Rd.

With witness identification and FLOCK camera footage, we identified the suspect vehicle as a dark grey Ford F-150 with a California vanity license plate. The suspect vehicle was last seen making a U-turn onto NB M-291 Hwy.

At this time, two victims have been identified. 1 victim is being treated at a local hospital for gunshot wounds, and 1 victim is being treated for glass shrapnel.

This is an on-going investigation.

Lee's Summit R-7 School District announces pair of informational town hall meetings focusing on the district's budget outlook and the Board of Education's tax rate decision coming Sept. 29. The Town Halls are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. Both will be held at the Stansberry Leadership Center.
