Fun day flying solo. Practiced landings, steep turns and stalls. Down to only having solo time left for my PPL requirements so working on maneuvers solo and trying to make sure I can do all of them within ACS standards. Huge thank you to my awesome CFI for preparing me to fly solo when the airspace is super busy.

So happy to be back in the air. Had a month hiatus due to the weather. Last days off were accompanied by the ice/snow storm. After the hiatus we needed to knock a little rust off the landings. Started out getting a little simulated instrument time while tracking a VOR radial inbound toward the VOR then tracked a different radial back to the airport for some landings. My normal bad habit of rounding out a little high crept back in but by the 5th landing I finally had the rust knocked off. We also practiced a few slips to land. Winds were a little bit challenging and crazy to have all the thermals in winter but it was quite warm today.

Finished up completing my 5 hours of solo cross country flying today. Yesterday’s flight was 3.1 hours so I lacked 1.9 hours of solo cross country time. Today did a solo cross country from Caddo Mills (7F3) to Tyler Pounds (KTYR) and back to Caddo Mills. Flight was exactly 1.9 hours. Also while at Tyler I made an additional landing to finish my 3 solo full stop landings at a towered airport. Want to say a huge thank you to the ATC controllers at TYR for putting up with me for the last 2 days. Your hard work and effort is greatly appreciated.

Completed my 150 nautical mile solo cross country flight today. Caddo Mills (7F3) to Mount Pleasant (KOSA) to Tyler Pounds (KTYR) back to Caddo Mills. A huge shout out to for training me to a level of proficiency that made this endeavor safe as well as believing in me to endorse me to leave the nest and fly away on my own.

Yesterday the weather wasn’t conducive for flying so we spent a little time on the simulator and a ground lesson / mock oral on airspace. Today we once again attempted our long cross country but ended it short again. Went to KOSA and back because the left brake didn’t want to quite work. Will eventually get all the pieces of the cross country put together so I can hopefully fly it solo soon.

I am not doing multi. Still working on PPL but the Apache made a nice backdrop for the photo.
