“It sounded like a freight train,” said Lake Drive resident Linda Yeatman. Her husband, Doug, said they could have kayaked in their driveway.

Seven years later, Loudoun County is in the early stages of a project it says will improve both public safety and the state of Lake Drive itself.

After voting last month to pursue moving the county government headquarters to eastern Loudoun, the county Board of Supervisors will now also leave the door open for staying in the Leesburg area.

The change comes after Little River Supervisor Laura TeKrony brought the issue back to the board during its Nov. 6 meeting, saying that county should keep a Leesburg location as an option.
