According to a recent press release by the Intermountain Health News, Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital has reached a new milestone in pediatric healthcare, earning national recognition across all 11 specialties evaluated by U.S. News & World Report—including six ranked among the Top 25 in the nation for 2025.

The honor marks the second consecutive year the Salt Lake City-based hospital has been ranked in every pediatric category and the first time it has placed six specialties in the Top 25.

As the federal government enters its second week of shutdown, Utah County residents are beginning to experience slower services, closed offices, and uncertainty regarding benefits and federal support.

The shutdown began Oct. 1 after Congress failed to pass funding for the new fiscal year. Many non-essential federal workers have been furloughed, while others classified as essential continue to work without pay.

According to a special announcement from the Church of Jesus Christ on Tuesday afternoon, the newly formed First Presidency was announced. President Dallin H. Oaks was ordained Prophet and formal leader of the 17+ million-member church.

President Oaks, who is 93 years old, named Henry B. Eyring as a Counselor and D. Todd Christofferson as a Counselor. The First Presidency is the highest governing body in the Church. President Jeffrey R. Holland was names President of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

No news conference was held.

The Lehi High School football team overcame a rocky start at Lone Peak on Thursday (Oct. 9) to take over the game for good early in the second quarter. The Pioneers went on to upset the Knights 34-6 on their Senior Night.

The Lehi defense achieved the unheard-of feat of holding Lone Peak out of the endzone at home while the offense scored 34 unanswered points after the host school boarded two field goals. It was just the second victory for the Pioneers over the Knights in 12 tries.

The Lehi boys golf team finished in ninth place following the 6A state tournament on Oct. 6-7 at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem.

The Pioneers posted a combined team score of 299 on the first day and tied for fifth place with Weber at the head of a tight group of teams who ended the round just a stroke or two apart.

Those teams remained clustered after the second round as well. Lehi shot a 303 for the team score on the second day and fell to ninth but they were just three strokes shy of sixth.

The latest historical marking unveiling held on Oct. 2, honored one of Lehi’s most unique historical homes—the Thomas Austin Home at 427 E. 500 North.

Hosted by the Lehi Historical Society and Lehi City, the unveiling event highlighted the history and architecture of the home, as well as the efforts of Wesley and Geraldine Dalley, who have owned and lovingly restored the house since 1975.

Following the Region 3 stroke-play championship, the Skyridge boys golf team won a match-play event against Lehi 4.5 to 3.5 that same afternoon (Sept. 29).

“It came down do one match on the 18th hole at Sleepy Ridge,” said Coach Tenille Slack. “We needed a full point or half point to win. Our freshman, Dylan Hymas, tied his match on 18 to give us the win. It was an exciting day.”
