07/09/2025

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 issued the following Traffic Advisory Update this afternoon regarding US 62 and William Thomason Byway in Leitchfield:

As construction continues at the intersection of US 62 (Elizabethtown Road) and KY 3155 (William Thomason Byway) in Leitchfield, motorists are reminded to slow down, give extra attention, and follow lane marking cones and barrels closely. As with any construction project, uneven pavement surfaces, equipment and work crew personnel present additional obstacles and require careful driving to avoid vehicle damage and potential injuries to motorists and workers.

With old pavement milled out, concrete pours are expected to take place Friday and Monday (July 11 and 14). During this time, it is crucial for traffic to adhere to their designated lane space. While the inside portion of the roundabout will ultimately be a mountable curb which allows larger vehicles to navigate the intersection, these longer vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route throughout this phase of construction to avoid curb strikes.

Lengthy traffic holds will also occur during concrete pours, and motorists may wish to avoid delays at the intersection by detouring.

Paving for the final surface is expected to take place the week of July 21.

Adverse weather may affect these dates. Updates to the schedule will be posted on social media and distributed to local media outlets and stakeholders.
