The Malawi Stock Exchange – MSE has been ranked as the second-best leading stock market in Africa for the outstanding performance in 2024.

According to data from AfriDigest, MSE secured the second-highest performance spot with a 50.03-percent return on investment in US dollars, just 12.86 - percent behind Kenya, which recorded a 62.89 percent return.

Key highlights of MSE's accomplishments in 2024 include a substantial increase in Market Capitalization, rising from 5.99 trillion kwacha to 9.18 trillion kwacha, with four companies now valued at over 1 trillion kwacha each.

The exchange also witnessed a surge in trading activity, with total annual trades amounting to 125 billion kwacha and 1.2 billion shares exchanged.

John Robson Kamanga, CEO of MSE, attributed these achievements to growing investor confidence and MSE's pivotal role in advancing capital market development.
