I can't believe I'm actually saying this out loud.
I'm 39. I'm single. I don't have kids. I don't have a husband or a relationship keeping me here. And besides my mom, I don't really have family tying me to Texas.
And for the first time, instead of looking at those things as everything I don't have... I'm realizing how much freedom I actually have.
I've said for months that I want to travel. That I want to live in a van with Harper and see the country. Run trails in places I've never been. Thrift in tiny towns. Meet people. Wake up somewhere new. Just GO.
But it was always one of those maybe someday things.
Until it wasn't.
I told a friend recently that nowhere really feels like home right now. And then I realized something...
When I'm on the road, I feel at home.
And I think that's when I knew.
So I'm doing it.
And no, I don't have a van sitting in my driveway. I don't have a giant savings account that's going to magically fund this. I don't have every detail figured out.
I'm going to sell things. I'm going to push the hell out of my reselling business. ( on IG ) I'm going to save. I'm going to figure out what kind of van I need, how I'm going to make money on the road, where I'm going first and approximately 9,000 other things I haven't even thought of yet.
Maybe I do this for a year.
Maybe I absolutely hate it.
Maybe I fall in love with a completely different way of living.
I have no idea.
But I think that's the point.
I'm happy with my life. This isn't me running away from it.
This is me finally realizing that I'm allowed to choose what I want my life to look like.
And right now, I have an opportunity that I might not have forever.
So why am I waiting?
I'm terrified. I'm emotional. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to pull all of this off.
But I've been saying something to myself a lot lately:
Do it scared.
So I guess this is Day One.
No van.
No perfect plan.
No idea what the hell I'm doing.
Just me, Harper, a really big dream and the decision to finally try.
I'm going to figure out the rest on the way. 🩷
