If you've been through our Pastry Shop, you've probably noticed a shelf with some wooden toys on them by Winter Creek Woodworks. These toys, and rolling pins are made by a fellow named Leon Hoffman from Tilly. Leon and his wife, Liz, were friends of my parents, and all the kids of Chimes grew up with his tops and rubber band guns. You've never met a fellow who loved the magic of childhood like Leon does. He genuinely wants to bring a smile to every child's face, and that's why he makes his toys. He has taken his items to craft shows for decades. If a kid comes to his booth and wants a toy, but doesn't have enough money, Leon has a policy of "Well, what's in your pocket?". If the kid wants one of his toys, they're going to leave with one of his toys.

To honor the spirit of this, now through Christmas, we will be running a "Pay What You Can" toy sale on his toys at our Pastry Shop. We will make up the difference of anyone who can't pay the usual asking price so Leon will receive the full profit. All proceeds go straight to Leon, to help he and his wife make it through winter till the craft shows open back up.

There will be limited availability, as Leon is nearing 80 and doesn't move very quick these days, but we will restock as we can. His items are also available online via Etsy, and those paid orders may be given priority if stock runs low. https://www.etsy.com/shop/WinterCreekWoodworks?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=485693679&from_page=listing

Fine print: We reserve the right to limit quantities sold to one person. This applies to toys ONLY, except the Marble Maze. No reservations, first come first serve.

We've had an unauthorized hatch. There's one not under her, but does anyone care to guess how many *are* under her?

RARE COMET PASSING BY! Don’t miss this opportunity guys. 💫

The Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS has an 80,000 year orbit and it’s passing by earth this month.

Yes, 80,000 years. Literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to have this little viewing window.

The Atlas Comet won’t return again for another 80,000 years.

Many of you have probably spotted it already, but I know some have missed.

Look to the west during sunset in the twilight period, around 45 minutes or so after sunset.

The comet will gradually get higher in the evening sky through the 21st.

Eventually it will not be visible to the naked eye. Grab some binoculars for the best viewing.

This is a fun activity for the family and it’s really cool to spot. The weather will be nice this week too.

Enjoy and send me pics!

It's fall, y'all! 🍂 Check out our October Garden Guide ➡️ https://i.mtr.cool/uacpmddvyj

As you pull vegetables out of your garden from summer, you can replace them with a cool-season vegetable. Here are some vegetables you can plant in your yard in October: mustard greens, kohlrabi, turnips, spinach, strawberries, lettuce, shallots, leeks, garlic, and collards.

We'll be in the Arkansas river valley Friday and Saturday. The City of Morrilton is participating in 64 Galore - a yard sale that extends from northwest Arkansas to Beebe, Arkansas. It's just a little bit south of the Ozarks, but if you are in the area, stop by and say hi. There's even a train museum behind us!
