In 1921, Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander made history as the first Black woman in the United States to earn a Ph.D. in Economics, achieving this milestone at the University of Pennsylvania, where she had also earned her Master’s degree.

Born in Philadelphia to a pioneering family — her father, Aaron Albert Mossell II, was the first African American graduate of UPenn Law School — Sadie carried forward a powerful legacy of perseverance and excellence in the face of racism and adversity.

Continuing to break barriers, she became the first Black woman admitted to UPenn Law School in 1923 and, by 1927, had established herself as a skilled attorney specializing in family and state law, making lasting contributions to civil rights and social justice.

A true trailblazer, Dr. Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander paved the way for generations of Black scholars, lawyers, and leaders to come. 🌟📚

Kechi Okwuchi is a true symbol of strength, resilience, and grace.

A survivor of the tragic 2005 plane crash that claimed 107 lives, Kechi was one of only two survivors. At just 16, she endured severe burns and over 100 reconstructive surgeries — yet refused to let tragedy define her.

Determined to rebuild her life, Kechi returned to school, graduating top of her class in Economics from the University of St. Thomas in 2015. She later earned her MBA with distinction in 2023 from the same university.

Today, she thrives as a singer, songwriter, business consultant, and inspirational speaker, using her voice and story to champion self-acceptance, hope, and perseverance. 🌟
