Threats: Accumulating snow

Location: Portions of the northwest North Carolina mountains, southwest Virginia, and southeast West Virginia

Timing: Starting early Friday morning and ending by Friday night

Overview and Impacts: The ongoing winter weather headlines west of the Blue Ridge should expire at 10 AM EST this morning. However, more snow showers are expected for Friday. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible in western Greenbrier County. Minor snow accumulations are expected for portions of the northwest North Carolina mountains, southwest Virginia, and other areas of southeast West Virginia. Snow may mix with rain across Southside Virginia and the North Carolina Piedmont. Roads may become slick or covered with snow, which could lead to hazardous travel and affect both the Friday morning and Friday evening commutes.
