Hey everyone! So - I've finally gotten everything together to start accepting submissions again, and guess what - submissions are officially open for our literary/art magazine, Crow Name Issue 8: Asterisk*, TODAY.
Below, you can read all about what it's - well - *all about*.
You can also go to www.crowname.com/submit to read the guidelines and this blurb again!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the first time, we are revealing the cover of the issue before accepting submissions! Behold Asterisk* β Crow Name Issue 8!
The Asterisk is a typographical symbol that is a stylized image of a star. It is usually five or six pointed in print and six or eight pointed when written, and its most common use is to call attention to a footnote. It is often used to censor words, or redact information. It can also be used to denote *action* in comics, and in online chats, it can be placed around words and phrases to indicate italics, or *feeling*.
There are a wide variety of uses for the Asterisk beyond those listed above, but Issue 8 will be focusing the most on the afterthought β the footnote, the overlooked, the redacted, the censored, and the unseen*.
*Please submit writing and art you feel represents a topic, item, people, etc. that is often overlooked, censored, or pushed into the footnotes. Examples: disability, LBGTQIA+, homelessness, womenβs rights, underserved and neglected communities, etc. If you are part of any of these communities, you are strongly urged to submit!
