ELK CITY — A closure order has been issued for the Selway River Corridor as the Island Creek Fire slowly creeps toward the water, according to a Saturday update from the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest.

The closure has gone into effect from O’Hara to Race Creek and associated areas, according to the update.

Fire north of Elk City has grown to more than 9,400 acres and was 5% contained as of Saturday
