The media should not be in the business of censoring the public. The filter will pick up certain words and automatically

hide some posts, but every single person on Facebook is responsible for their own words. We do not take responsibility for what other people post, but if you feel it is beyond what is appropriate, send us a private message telling us what story it is under, who posted it, and what it says. Demanding that posts be removed, reporting posts to Facebook, or telling us to block someone from this page is an issue between the person who posts and the person who reads it. If you would rather not see someone's comments, you may easily block them. The filter will remove posts with certain words (they don't bother me, but they can't be on my site) or if they go over the top with racism or something inappropriate. Social media has changed the way we communicate - what we would not say to someone's face EVER is now posted for the entire world to see. So please think twice before posting your comments - not only can your employer see it, but so can your family. Known fake profiles that are used to "troll" and/or make comments that are inappropriate will be banned. Yesterday (Tues), Laird Park got an update with a seasonal dam.

News & Photos by Mirror Up Imagery.

Members of the US Forest Service, Youth Conservation Corps, and Volunteers from nearby Camp Grizzly Inland Northwest Scouts worked together on Tuesday morning to install much anticipated, updated hardware for seasonal Dam and swimming area Laird Park near Harvard today. It's estimated that the upstream pool should reach optimal depth within a day or two from the installation.
Laird Park is a popular local public campground managed by the Forest Service. Swimming and other outdoor recreation activities are major draws for local and regional visitors. The swimming area had been intermittently disrupted for the last two years due to structural issues with the decades-old dam hardware, prompting these much needed updates.

Some big, family-friendly events are coming up this weekend.

It starts with Elk River Days Friday afternoon at 4:45. That’s when the Community Park Pavilion ribbon cutting commemorates the event. Then it’s dinner time with spaghetti in the park. Then there’s live music, bingo, and a movie in the park. The fun continues Saturday with a parade, vendors, bbq, and a lot more. Sunday they’re offering church in the park and cardboard boat races.

Also Friday night, Kamiah has Rhythms on the River. Twice in August and twice in September, Kamiah’s River Arts has live music at Riverfront Park. This Friday it’s DJ Daisy with a family-friendly dance party from 6-8pm.

Lewiston’s Sound Downtown returns at 7:30 this Friday evening. Desperate Electric will be playing at Brackenbury Square. A Plastic Magazine review says “As if plucked from the ether where Marvin Gaye meets Daft Punk for cocktails, this velvety tune leads with sensuality without ever losing its groove.”

The weekend list wouldn’t be complete without Asotin Days. Saturday and Sunday are filled with events starting with a Lion’s Club breakfast at the park, vendors, co****le tournament, live music, church in the park, hot wheel races, horseshoe tournament, and a whole lot more.
