Pettengill Academy is an early learning childcare center specializing in Infant, Toddler, and Preschool care, with locations in Lewiston, Auburn, and Brunswick, Maine. Since opening in 2012, we’ve been dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and eco-healthy environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
👩🏫 Our Story
Owner/Director Chan
tel Pettengill, a certified teacher in Maine with concentrations in Mathematics and English Language Learning, began her career teaching middle school. After seeing many students enter school lacking essential skills, she and her husband Zack opened Pettengill Academy to ensure that children receive the best possible start in life.
📚 Our Philosophy
We blend the Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf approaches with Maine’s Early Learning Guidelines (aligned with Common Core). With child-led play and strong academics, our curriculum—powered by the research-based Funnydaffer program—encourages creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Music, art, creative movement, and plenty of outdoor play are part of every child’s day.
