The Crayon Case: A letter to my black Entrepreneurs
After looking at the upward success of this amazing brand. Entrepreneurs should learn several lessons.
1. You have to GIVE to RECEIVE. The Crayon case brand gave away THOUSANDS of PR products as part of their promo (marketing). These items were worth HUNDREDS of dollars, which allowed them to make THOUSANDS of dollars. Entrepreneurs it’s okay to give away the “Extra/Free Pickle”.
2. There’s no such thing as FREE. These ladies did several FREE business empowerment campaigns as a way to give back. This allowed them to reach dozens of target audiences nationwide. A campaign of this magnitude cost them thousands of dollars in business overhead (trust me I know). Entrepreneurs investing in your business is part of “The Dream”. This will either make or break you in the world of business.
3. Align yourself with a good team & be a good leader. I’ve watched the entire Crayon Case organization WIN. As a business owner you CAN’T be the only one winning. We have people who dedicate themselves to our businesses everyday. It’s only right that we put them in the same position, to reap the harvest from their plantation of seed. There’s no leaders in a “team” we’re all TEAMMATES!
4. Move in silence. Stop announcing your every move. Every plan. Every connection. People see your greatness & watch to see what great thing you’re about to do next just to beat you to the punch. It’s okay if you “fall off”. Just make sure they feel your “fly up”! Remember to do this gracefully!
5. Never forget to send the elevator back down: BBJudy sent the elevator of success to give someone else the opportunity to be great. What’s success, if we keep all the winnings. Pull the next person up on your way to the top. It’s okay to be surrounded by winners.
