Ep 391 - Dark Arts KBF Bottles

The Kentucky Bourbon Festival kicks off next Friday and we have an early review of some bottles that can be purchased there.

You’ve heard us talk about Dark Arts MANY times on the podcast. Even though enthusiasts are familiar with all the great alchemy that is taking place right here in Lexington, KY, we feel the best is yet to come for this still relatively new wh***ey house.

In this episode, we taste and review two of their upcoming releases: a hazmat Kentucky bourbon and a 19 year old Kentucky bourbon that was finished for an astonishing 7 years in Japanese Mizunara. Along the way, we talk about the coming fall season, sports, and a bunch of other fun stuff.

Are you going to KBF? If so, you’ll want to give Dark Arts a visit!

Ep 389 - Michter’s 10 Year Straight Rye Wh***ey

If you’ve listened to the podcast before, you know that we are generally fans of Michter’s products. For this short, we taste and review this years version of Michter’s 10 Year Straight Rye Wh***ey.

This is one of the more premium (but attainable) offerings from Michter’s and it doesn’t release annually. The release is made up of many ultra-aged single barrels and this wh***ey is very sought after by newbies and seasoned enthusiasts.
So join us this week as we give you our take on this rye.

We are also joined by our friend Todd Ritter from The Bourbon Road and he participates in pass, try, or buy.

When’s the best time to taste your product as a wh***ey blender?

Check out this throwback clip from a past episode on our YouTube channel, where Bruce Russell drops the absolute best advice he received from his grandfather, Wild Turkey legend Jimmy Russell, on why you should try it at all times đŸŠƒđŸ„ƒ

What are some of the best pours you’ve had the chance to try?

One that ranks up there for us was a 22yr old Willett Rye. Check out this clip from a past episode where we talk with our guest, Bruce Russell about this one.

Cheers! đŸ„ƒ

Ep 388 - Jack Daniel’s High Angel’s Share Tennessee Wh***ey

In this episode, we taste and review the brand new Jack Daniel’s High Angel’s Share Tennessee Wh***ey.

The new limited release is comprised of traditional Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Wh***ey laid down in 2016. The wh***ey rested atop Coy Hill on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13 for a high angel’s share maturation. As the barrels rested in the highest reaches of the barrelhouse, an increased amount of wh***ey was lost, presenting a very unique wh***ey.

But how does it taste? We’ll give you our perspective and we hope you have a chance to try it. Cheers! đŸ„ƒ

Ep 388 - Booker’s The Reserves 2026 Rye Wh***ey

In this episode, we taste and review the brand new Booker’s The Reserves 2026.

This is a limited-edition Kentucky Straight Rye Wh***ey finished in apple brandy barrels and infused with cinnamon.

This is a family recipe of sorts and it’s meant to honor the tradition that Booker used to follow during the holidays when he used Booker’s barrels to age homemade apple w**e.

This rye is aged for a little over 6 years and comes in at 125.1 proof and is uncut, unfiltered, and non-chill filtered.

Give us a listen to find out how it tastes!
