🚨 Episode 288 is LIVE! 🚨

Dropping today at 12pm on Bourbon Outfitter. This is one of the most exciting shorts we’ve ever recorded. David Jennings is not only a good friend of the podcast, but he is also the proprietor or Caleb’s Crossing and Raconteur Rye. This coincides with the newest releases from both brands. The fourth releases from Raconteur are actually two bottles: Gemini I (Indiana) and Gemini II (Kentucky). Both of these expressions are 95/5 ryes with different Mizunara oak finishes, but because they have different states of distillation, David & James from Woodwork invite enthusiasts to decide which one they like better. We have a consensus opinion based on our tasting and we can’t wait to see what others think when they start getting their hands on these bottles. The third release from Caleb’s Crossing is a Bourye (blend of bourbon and rye). After two inaugural standouts from Caleb’s Crossing, we taste this one and tell you how it stacks up with the previous releases. We really appreciate David providing us with these samples. Cheers! 🥃

🚨 Episode 287 is LIVE! 🚨

Burnt Church Distillery is the pride of Bluffton, South Carolina. Before it was Burnt Church, the road in the heart of Old Town Bluffton was known as Palmer’s Stretch. This rye whiskey pays tribute to the people and a specific period in time in the low country. Burnt Church was one of the brands that was part of the Hoochenanny Music and Whiskey festival that we were part of. In this episode, we taste and review the rye whiskey offering from Burnt Church and we also talk to their master distiller, Peter Thompson. Burnt Church is doing some wonderful things and they are expanding distribution by the minute. So join us this week to find out more about this up and coming distillery and their flagship products. 🥃

🚨 Episode 286 is LIVE! 🚨

According to a big box retailer, Peter E Hart’s Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon is aged 8 years and has a unique mashbill using Honey’d Wheat and Honey’d Malted Barley. Due to this unique mashbill, the flavors are said to be “robust and smooth” at a very healthy 112 proof. So how does it actually taste? We’ll be the judge of that. Join us for this short as we taste and review this unique bourbon. Though it is a recent release, the name is one steeped in history and the place it was distilled is amongst the best “craft” bourbon distillers in the U.S. Cheers everyone. 🥃

🚨 Episode 285 is LIVE! 🚨

You’d have to go all the way back to episode 17 to find the first time we ever tasted and reviewed anything from Nashville Barrel Company (NBC). Back then we could have never imagined that we would have our own barrel picks from NBC. Recently, Kenny took a trip down to Nashville and selected two Kelvin barrel MGP bourbons and one founders OG rye. Even though these were selected by Kenny, this episode marks the first time that we were able to get together to taste and review these. So join us this week as we talk about NBC and our recent picks from there. We still have a few left and you definitely don’t want to miss out on these. 🥃

🚨 Episode 284 is LIVE! 🚨

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a signature product from Heaven Hill that first released in 2013. Typically, this release happens three times during each calendar year. The most recent release, B525 has received some very positive reviews by most in the whiskey community. In fact, many have claimed that this batch is up there with some of the all time great batches. What do think? Is this the return to greatness for ECBP? You’ll have to listen to find out. We want to thank our listener Kevin H. as he sent us this entire bottle to review. Just like the last time we reviewed an ECBP, Steven makes his return to the podcast after a short absence and hilarity ensues. Has Heaven Hill finally gotten it’s groove back with this most recent batch? Let us say...maybe. 🥃

You've heard the chicken tender banter for months and months on the podcast. Well, tonight we settle it!! Who will win? Are Cane's tenders bland (that's Kenny's opinion) on purpose so the Cane's sauce shines through? Will Chick Fil A nuggets win like Kenny thinks? Will Anthony show up with pants on? Time will tell.... Come laugh and have a good time with us tonight!!

🚨 Episode 282 is LIVE! 🚨

Fort Hamilton Distillery is located in Brooklyn, New York and was founded in 2016 by Alex Clark and his wife Amy Grindeland. We caught up with this dynamic duo during our recent trip to the Hoochenanny Whiskey and Music festival. Fort Hamilton strives to make an array of spirits, but the brand was founded on the premise of creating authentic New York style rye that was popular before prohibition. In this episode, you will get to hear our interview with Alex that took place at the festival and you will also get to here our opinion of their rye whiskey once we arrived back in Kentucky and revisited it. We’ve never done an episode like this for the podcast and you won’t want to miss it. Alex is a fascinating individual and he brings an unparalleled energy to whiskey making and his brand. We had very limited experience with Fort Hamilton before visiting NY. If you aren’t familiar with Fort Hamilton, we promise you will know about them very soon because they are doing some amazing things. 🥃

🚨 Episode 281 is LIVE! 🚨

You’ve heard us talk about Four Roses Single Barrel / Barrel Strength picks many times over. The fact that we’ve never reviewed one for the podcast is just plain crazy. This week, we taste and review a pick from Bros Liquor in California. Our very own Kenny Mills was part of the pick team. So, tune in to hear our thoughts about this 9.5 year, 122.4 proof OESQ recipe barrel pick. It’s safe to say that OESQ isn’t traditionally one of the more sought after recipes, but our thoughts on this one might catch you by surprise. In this episode, we also recap our time at the Hoochenanny Whiskey and Music Festival. We had a great time and hope you’ll enjoy hearing about our experience. 🥃

🚨 Episode 280 is LIVE! 🚨

We promised that we would actually stick to our word this week and record a “short” episode. However, Kenny threw in one of his classic curveballs. As you will notice, this episode is completely blind. You don’t know what the bottle is so you’ll just have to listen to find out what bourbon we reviewed and what we thought about it. If this works out, we might do more episodes just like this. Let us know what you think. 🥃
