Two extremes break people:

The cynic sees only evil and believes nothing good exists.
The idealist expects only good and cannot absorb evil when it happens. Scripture refuses both. “Let both grow together until the harvest” (Matt. 13:30). “Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” (Job 2:10). “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Good and evil coexist, but they are not equals. Evil will not have the last word.

Don’t deny the darkness. Don’t deny the light. Hold both, and hold on to Christ.

Held by the Word in the Valley

Thank you. To everyone who prayed, called, visited, and carried our family through my heart attack, I am deeply grateful. Your prayers strengthened me more than you know.

In those days, Genesis 3 reshaped how I understood what was happening. Before the fall, God saw all He had made and called it “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Sin did not erase that goodness, but it brought death, pain, and a creation groaning for redemption (Genesis 3:16–19; Romans 8:22). A failing body reminds me that we live under the curse and wait for a Savior.

Yet in Genesis 3:15, God gives the first gospel promise, that the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head. The God who sought Adam in the garden has not stopped seeking His people.

Friends, know your Bible before the storm comes. You may not understand everything, and you may not yet accept every answer, but Scripture holds when your own strength fails: “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart” (Psalm 73:26 ESV).

Pray for Healing — But Don’t Promise It. Scripture commands us to pray for the sick (James 5:14–15), and we should pray boldly, expecting God to act. But there is a difference between praying in faith and promising an outcome God has not guaranteed. Biblical prayer for healing holds two things together:

1. Confident petition — we ask, we lay hands, we believe God is able (Mark 9:23).
2. Submitted trust — we leave the outcome to His sovereign, good will (1 John 5:14).

The church was never meant to be a courtroom. It was meant to be a hospital.
“Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.” — Galatians 6:1

Shame says: stay away until you’re clean.
Restoration says: come close, because you’re not clean, and neither am I.

If your church’s first instinct with a fallen brother or sister is exposure rather than pursuit, you’ve built a courtroom, not a family.

Jesus doesn’t point to a path. He is the path. Every road humanity has built toward God ends at a door we can’t open ourselves, and he opened it by his cross and resurrection.

You don’t have to find your way to God. The Way has come to find you.

People won’t remember your name. They’ll remember how you made them feel — how you loved, served, and showed up when no one was watching.

That’s the kind of legacy Heaven keeps records of, even when history forgets.

“Never let the sense of past failure defeat your next step.”

Scripture: “Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV)

Paul had persecuted the church. That history never disqualified him from the mission — it became the backdrop against which grace was magnified. Failure is not final when Christ is faithful.

Your past does not get the final word. Your obedience today does.
