Making the team isn’t the same as playing.

In college golf, there are three levels:

Roster. You’re on the team.
Travel. You go to events.
Lineup. You compete for the team score.

Most families only ask about the first one. The new Recruiting Roadmap post covers how to read a team’s fall results, what to compare your scores to, and the one question to ask every coach:

Playing sick isn’t toughness. It’s a bad decision.

A college event this week cancelled its final round after illness hit 13 of its 17 teams.

Junior golfers need to hear this from us: if you’re truly sick, withdrawing is okay.

There’s always another tournament.
