Strong Storm System To Bring A Taste Of Winter...

A strong cold front will approach the area overnight, and pass
through in the early morning of Christmas Eve. Ahead of this
front, expect continued gusty winds in the 30 to 35 mph range with
some gusts around 40 mph possible. Rainy conditions are expected
ahead of the cold front late this evening into tonight.

After the cold front passes early Christmas Eve, gusts will drop
off slightly but temperatures will quickly crash below freezing.
Watch for any lingering wet spots on roadways to potentially
freeze Thursday morning. Some light freezing drizzle may also be
possible east of I-65 where a light glaze of ice could develop on
elevated surfaces in the morning.

As we move into the afternoon and evening hours of Christmas
Eve scattered snow showers are expected to develop and could last
into Christmas morning. Light and fluffy snow accumulations around
a half an inch or less are expected over most locations, however
the best chance for amounts closer to an inch will be toward the
I-75 corridor.

Temperatures are also expected to be quite cold by Christmas
morning with values in the teens. Given surface winds still in the
10 to 20 mph range and the cold temperatures, wind chills are
expected to drop into the single digits. Plan accordingly for
these winter hazards as we navigate the Christmas Eve and the
Christmas Day time frame.
