Parry McCluer High School has hired Adam Haynes, who has been the athletic director at Rockbridge County High School for the past four years, as its new athletic director. Haynes replaces Mike Cartolaro, who was the Fighting Blues’ athletic director for the last six years and is retiring. Western Albemarle defeated Rockbridge County High School 14-4 in the VHSL Class 4 girls lacrosse state championship game in Charlottesville on Saturday. The Warriors (17-1) used a dominant second quarter to earn their third straight state crown, including their second consecutive win against the Wildcats (15-3) in the title tilt.

Rockbridge County High School has hired Anthony Marasco, a former boys soccer coach for Harrisonburg High School and Rocktown High School, as its new athletic director. Marasco, 28, replaces Adam Haynes, who is stepping down from the position after four years. Marasco, who is serving as an athletic director for the first time, coached boys soccer for four years at Harrisonburg High School before coaching Rocktown to the Valley District title this spring.
