Published since 2004, Lexington Life Magazine is a family-owned, direct mail advertising solution with an estimated readership of 50,000. 25,000 magazines are printed monthly, 23,500 are mailed to prominent homes and businesses in

the 29072 and 29073 (Lexington) and 29054 (Gilbert) zip codes. The remaining magazines are distributed to local businesses, schools, government and administrative offices, the Chamber of Commerce for relocation packages, high traffic locations, hotels and paid subscribers. As a young boy, Murry Kinard, founder and owner of Kinard Law Group, moved to Lexington with his parents. He attended intermediate, middle, and high schools in Lexington. Like many Lexington teens, his first job was right in town, serving ice cream cones at Hite’s Dairy Bar, a beloved local restaurant.

Usually, the issues are minor repairs that accumulate over time, but sometimes they are significant problems that make a home unsafe. In the Chapin area, one local non-profit has been quietly addressing these needs for more than two decades. That organization is GOoD Works, a 501(c)(3) ministry dedicated to helping families live in safer, healthier homes.

This month, Caughman’s Meats celebrates 70 years of providing quality meat products to the Lexington area. “We started out as a wholesale and processing plant in November 1955,” said Caughman’s Meats co-owner Alacia Quinton. The Meat ‘n Place opened in 1992 to serve the public.

Quinton’s parents Billy and Marguerite Caughman started the business in 1955. Of the Caughman’s children, Alacia and her brother Ronnie run daily operations for the business.

Lexington County Department of Social Services County Director Jennifer Jeffcoat resides in Lexington with her husband Brent and sons Brady and Grayson. “I love the people. Everybody is very friendly. It still has that hometown feel even though it’s grown by leaps and bounds,” said Jeffcoat, adding that much of her family’s free time revolves around their sports activities. “My husband is the head coach for lacrosse over at White Knoll, where my boys play. We definitely keep busy.”
