Who do you want to hear during Celebrity Reader Week 2026?

We're bringing our Celebrity Reader Week back a little earlier this year, but we already have an incredible line-up for you, including reporters from three different newspapers (so far!), more than half of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government council, First Lady Beshear, and more! We'll be broadcasting their programs from September 14 through 20th.

Radio Eye's Bill Sallee has been hard at work making connections and speaking at events this summer! During August, he's presented with the Lexington Lions Diabetes Project and at an AARP meeting, with several more events coming up.

If you're part of a group that might like information about Radio Eye or know of an event where we might be able to set up a table, feel free to email him at [email protected] to set something up!

Thank you so much to Kentucky School for the Blind Charitable Foundation for hosting such a fun and interactive event! It was fascinating to learn more about the history of assistive devices and be able to participate in an immersive way. Plus it’s always fun to experience new things with our community partners! Thank you to Bluegrass Council of the Blind, Inc. for sharing the table with us. We can’t wait to attend another one!

Today we thank and bid a fond farewell (as a reader!) to Alice Dehner, who has served Radio Eye since 2008. Not only has she contributed roughly 2500 hours of volunteer time, she has also sat on our board, been the first to step up for many events, and kept staff and listeners laughing and smiling for nearly two decades. Her husband and reading partner Gary retired from reading last year.

Alice's last reading of the Washington Post broadcasts again today at 6pm and 2am and is available as a podcast on spreaker.com and the RadioEye app.

On Friday in Louisville there will be a Red Cross blood drive in honor of the daughter of a long-time Radio Eye volunteer and former board member who is undergoing treatment for leukemia.

If you're available, this would be a wonderful way to support their family during this hard time 💙🎙
