TEXAS FLOODS, HEARTACHE & MUSICIANS
Over the course of several natural disasters the WoodSongs community stepped up and collected well over 5000 music instruments ... 1800 alone for the musicians of HELENE ... gifted to those who lost everything
At the time of a disaster, the last thing people are thinking about our banjos and guitars. But as things calm down the yearning for comfort for musicians in the form of playing and calming their nerves and settling their heart, becomes important.
Since WoodSongs launched these very public projects, we've seen many others copying and duplicating what we did for those in their communities. This is a good thing, we welcome it and we encourage.
I hope after the dark horror of what has happened in Texas and elsewhere subsides folks will continue to step up and realize that music is important, art is important, giving communities a chance to feel like Home again is important
The things we experienced in the stories that we were told are inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time
I hope those that launch projects to collect and gift instruments when the time is right will do it for the appropriate purpose, not to make themselves look good, but to truly help those that need the comfort of music. This is a real thing. This is artistic medicine
If we can help, advise, and encourage, we are there for you
