Loni Anderson, Star of ‘WKRP in Cincinnati,’ Dies at 79

She died at a hospital in Los Angeles after a prolonged illness, according to her publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan.

Anderson rose to television stardom in the late 1970s and was known for blending glamour with comedic intelligence.

Running from 1978 to 1982, “WKRP in Cincinnati” was a cult classic set in a struggling Ohio radio station attempting to revive itself through rock music. Anderson’s role as Jennifer Marlowe was not just decorative—it was pivotal. Her character’s savvy management and poised charm often saved the station from chaos, making her a standout among a talented cast

For her work, Anderson received two Emmy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations, solidifying her status as a major television star. She starred alongside Gary Sandy, Tim Reid, Howard Hesseman, and Jan Smithers, and the series continues to enjoy nostalgic reverence for its ensemble performances and comedic relevance.
