While an isolated rain/storm chance looks possible today, more widespread chances ramp up Monday afternoon and evening.

The overall severe threat with this forecast remains low, but some stronger storm development will be possible at times. Main storm threats will be gusty winds, torrential rainfall, and localized flooding issues.

Additional storm chances look likely as we work through midweek.

Our weather pattern across Kentucky will become more unsettled through much of next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase each day, bringing additional and much-needed rainfall to areas still dealing with ongoing drought conditions. While this won’t completely erase the deficits, it will continue to move us in the right direction.

DROUGHT MONITOR UPDATE

The latest Drought Monitor shows some improvement across the northern half of Kentucky, thanks to recent rainfall. However, moderate to severe drought conditions continue across many southern Kentucky communities, where rainfall deficits remain significant.

Additional rain chances arrive later this weekend and continue into next week, which should help chip away at the drought. While this won’t completely erase the deficit, it’s another step in the right direction.
