Liberty Hospital Foundation | Celebrating 40 Years of Impact ❤️

On Wednesday, Liberty Hospital social worker Abby Edwards won a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee during the Foundation’s 40th Anniversary Health on Wheels Giveaway — a joyful moment honoring the lives she helps change every day.

Thanks to the support of Heartland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, the raffle helps fund medical transportation for patients in need. Abby shared how Health on Wheels has transformed discharge planning and patient care.

After reviewing 115 applications for the commissioned sculpture that will be a focal point in front of Liberty City Hall, the panel of Arts Commission members, City of Liberty, Mo. Government staff and community stakeholders have narrowed the applicants to the top five finalists!

These artists will create a concept design and present to the panel virtually in June. The five selected artists are:

Great to be back with Leadership Liberty for Media Day, presented by the Liberty Chamber of Commerce and hosted at The CO-OP at Shoal Creek. The day focused on leadership, crisis communication, and how businesses and professionals can use media effectively in today’s fast-paced digital world.

As a Class of 2024 alum, it was an honor to return and serve on the Media Panel alongside Martin Augustine (KMBC 9) and Kellie Houx (Courier-Tribune)—sharing our experiences and answering questions from Liberty’s next generation of leaders.

I was proud to represent independent journalism, having firmly planted my VVM brand media flag in Liberty, Missouri—where my work supports tourism, economic development, local small businesses, and brings visibility to powerful community stories and the rich multicultural history of Clay County.

Kansas City, Missouri is the Home of the Black Movie Hall of Fame. The revitalized Boone Theater will feature the Black Movie Hall of Fame, the Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City, and a variety of community-oriented spaces, including digital media labs and dinner theaters. The Boone Theater redevelopment project is set to reopen in February 2026 and aims to celebrate the area's rich cultural legacy while fostering growth and community involvement for years to come.

Janelle Monae (Kansas City, Kansas): Actress, singer, and fashionista.

Kevin Willmott (Junction City, Kansas): Oscar-winning screenwriter and director.

Harry Belafonte: Played notorious real-life Kansas City gangster Seldom Seen in Kansas City (1996).

Chadwick Boseman: Portrayed legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson in 42, who got his start with the Kansas City Monarchs.

Forest Whitaker: Played famed saxophonist Charlie Parker in Clint Eastwood’s Bird.

Congratulations to Mayor Greg Canuteson on his re-election in Liberty, Missouri, with an impressive 64–34% victory over his opponent Gieselle Fest. Liberty voters also passed the 1% Sales Tax for Public Safety by a 52–48% margin—overcoming a fierce yet fleeting “No New Taxes” push. This crucial measure will fund a modern police facility, boost salaries for first responders, and provide new fire equipment to help keep Liberty safe.
