Eastbound and westbound Missouri 92 is now open between Cameron Road and Route RA/Old Quarry Road near Kearney. The route was originally closed for slide repair operations on Monday, July 7, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

There are four blood drives through the end of the month in Clay County: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25, Keller Williams Kansas City North, 310 NW Englewood Road; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29, WellWay, 2551 Norterre Circle; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 31, North Kansas City Public Library, 2251 Howell St.; and noon to 5 p.m., July 31, First United Methodist Church, 1000 East, Missouri Highway 92.

The American Red Cross urges all donors to give blood or platelets to keep the blood supply strong this summer.

Kearney bull riding will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, at Jesse James Festival Grounds, 16925 Missouri 33. Mutton bustin’ begins at 6:30 p.m. There will also be mini bulls and bull riding. Bull riding starts at 7:30 p.m. The event supports Better in the Saddle, a nonprofit therapeutic riding program and the kids and adults that it helps.

KEARNEY — The Kearney Bull Riding will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27. This Kearney rodeo is held at Jesse James Festival Grounds, 16925 State Missouri 33.

With the actual temperature hovering around 95 degrees and the heat index hitting 105 degrees, a heat advisory has been issued and currently remains in effect until Thursday.
