On Sunday, May 10th at approximately 9:20p, the Garden City Park Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at the BP Gas station on Jericho Turnpike. With Garden City Park & Garden City units clearing from an alarm just across the border in Garden City, Garden City Ladder 147 quickly arrived on scene and transmitted a 2nd alarm on arrival for heavy fire from the gas station repair bays. The crew of L147 stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. At least 4 lines were stretched and placed into operation to knock down the main body of fire in under 15 minutes. With the assistance of crews from New Hyde Park, Floral Park, Mineola, Westbury, South Floral Park , Stewart Manor, Franklin Square and Elmont, extensive overhaul was conducted before the fire was placed under control in 45 minutes. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department McGillicuddy [1500]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Sunday, May 10th at approximately 1:30a, the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Dept was dispatched to a reported house fire on Sycamore Ave. 1st Assistant Chief Clark [81] quickly arrived on scene and transmitted a Working Fire with heavy fire from an abandoned house with occupants being evacuated by Hempstead Police. Engine 5 and Ladder 2 were first due, placing the initial lines into operation and beginning searches of the house. Due to a collapse on the 2nd floor during the initial searches, unit evacuated the house and transitioned to a defensive operation. With the assistance of crews from West Hempstead, Garden City, South Hempstead, Baldwin, Roosevelt, Freeport, Rockville Centre, and Uniondale, at least 3 lines were placed into operation along with the master stream from Harper Hook & Ladder Company #1. After the main body of fire was extinguished, 2 occupants of the house were located deceased in the residence. Crews operated for over an hour before the scene was placed under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This fire was the 3rd working fire in recent years at the same address (10/29/25 & 9/23/23)

On Sunday, April 26th at approximately 3:10p, the North Amityville Fire Company was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Harrison Ave, directly behind North Amityville Fire Headquarters. 3rd Assistant Chief Gray [1-7-33] quickly arrived on scene finding fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2-story apartment building and a Working Fire was transmitted and subsequently upgraded to a 2nd alarm. Crews stretched 3 hand lines to extinguish the main body of fire with the assistance of crews from Amityville, West Babylon, Lindenhurst, Copiague, East Farmingdale, and South Farmingdale. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes under the direction of 2nd Assistant Chief Benloss [1-7-32]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Saturday, April 18th at approximately 11:50a, the Williston Park Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire next to the house on Collins Ave. Chief of Department Vulpis [8600] quickly arrived on scene finding 2 cars on fire between 2 houses with extension to the siding of one house and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 861 was first due and stretched the initial hand line to extinguish the fires preventing extension into the houses. With the assistance of crews from Albertson, Mineola and a FAST from Carle Place, the fire was placed under control in approximately 25 minutes with extensive overhaul conducted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Friday, April 10th at approximately 5:16a, the Wantagh Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Peconic Ave. 3rd Assistant Chief Mongiello [6903] was quickly on the road and with report of smoke visible from Station 3 and an ex-captain on scene with active fire, a Signal 10 was transmitted. 1st Assistant Chief Krussmann [6901] quickly arrived on scene, confirming heavy fire throughout the 3-story house and requested an additional truck to the scene. Engine 698 (acting 693) was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. Crews made an aggressive interior attack before switching to defensive operations, due to the heavy fire load and structural compromise. At least 4 lines were placed into operation in addition to the master stream from Wantagh Tower Ladder 6911 to extinguish the fire. With the assistance of crews from Massapequa, Merrick, North Bellmore and Bellmore, the main body of fire was knocked down in approximately 90 minutes under the direction of 1st Assistant Chief Krussmann. Crews continued to operate into the morning conducting extensive overhaul throughout the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Wednesday, April 8th at approximately 8:15a, the Glenwood H&L, E&H, Co., Inc. along with a dual response engine from Sea Cliff Fire Department were dispatched to a reported building fire at Big Valley Nursery on Cedar Swamp Rd. Sea Cliff 1st Assistant Chief O’Donnell [5701] was quickly on the road and after receiving report that a Glen Cove Ex-Chief was on scene confirming a working fire, a Signal 10 was transmitted. Glenwood Engine 531 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire which was quickly upgraded to a 2nd Alarm with heavy fire showing from the roof of the 1 story commercial building and extension into an adjacent detached garage. Crews placed at least 4 hand lines into operation before the decision was made to transition to defensive operations due to structural compromise in the original fire building. 3 tower ladders and a ground monitor were placed into operation in addition to the hand lines to continue to extinguish the blaze. The fire was ultimately raised to a 4th alarm bringing mutual aid crews from Glen Cove, Roslyn Rescue, Roslyn Highlands, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, East Norwich, Syosset, Port Washington, Albertson, Manhasset-Lakeville, Bethpage, Westbury, Carle Place & Plainview to the scene to assist. Crews operated for approximately 3 hours before the fire was placed under control. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Sinski [5300]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Thursday, April 2nd at approximately 12:05p, the Levittown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported AC unit on fire on Hamlet Rd. Safety Officer 6255 was quickly on the road and advised that a member was on scene reporting sparking from the unit and possible fire. Upon arrival of 6255, fire was confirmed on the 2nd floor and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 627 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. In total, 2 lines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Bethpage and Wantagh. The fire was quickly knocked down with the scene placed under control in approximately 40 minutes under the direction of 1st Assistant Chief Giudice [6201]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Monday, March 30th at approximately 3:15p, the Elmont Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on E Street. 1st Assistant Chief Dubas [7011] was quickly on the road and advised by Firecom of a possible basement fire. Chief of Department Segovia [7010] quickly arrived on scene finding fire in the rear of the house and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 703 was first due and stretched the initial line to quickly extinguish the main body of fire. After conducting overhaul, the fire was placed under control in approximately 15 minutes with the assistance of an Engine & Ladder from Valley Stream. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Monday, March 30th at approximately 2:20p, the Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department along with a dual response engine from Hewlett and a dual response ladder from Elmont were dispatched to a reported basement fire on West Lincoln Ave. Chief of Department Capone [3400] and Engine 341 quickly arrived on scene and after a brief search, a Signal 10 was transmitted with active fire in the basement of the house. 2 lines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Lynbrook and Malverne. The fire was placed under control in approximately 20 minutes with overhaul conducted by crews on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Monday, March 30th at approximately 12:35p, Elmont Ladder 708 while returning from an automatic alarm came upon smoke from a house on Webster Ave in Floral Park’s district. 1st Assistant Chief O’Connor [1201] and Chief of Department Luger [1200] were quickly on the road and upon receiving report from Firecom that L708 was on scene recommending a Signal 10, a Signal 10 was transmitted. Elmont Engine 701 quickly arrived on scene and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the 2nd floor fire while Floral Park units along with a dual response engine from South Floral Park arrived on scene to place an additional line into operation. With the assistance of crews from New Hyde Park and Stewart Manor, the fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
