I survived my paying job today! Retail work isnā€™t for the weak this time of year. My customers were all cool though. One even gave me some chocolate!šŸ˜

Absolutely NOT what I wanted for Christmas. Our fridge died last night. It didnā€™t even get a chance to rust! We went to Home Depot this morning in hopes of buying a new one. We had one choice, thatā€™s it. Made the decision easy. šŸ˜‚ Better than when our washer met the maker, I went to the store to replace it and there were none! Zero. Was told 4-6 weeks. I went home in shock and cried. Thankfully some washers came in on the boat the following week. Hawaii problems.

I donā€™t love this new fridge. Freezer is on top. And thereā€™s no ā€œcheese drawerā€. Iā€™m going to have to find something to put our cheese and deli meats in. Canā€™t take the one from the old fridge because the design is different.

One really nice thing that happened, as we were staring at the new fridge in the back of my husbandā€™s truck, contemplating how we were going to get it out, a big local guy drove by and asked ā€œneed helpā€. Heck yeah we needed help! What a blessing he was! We thanked him and my daughter gave him a bag of homemade chocolate chip cookies.ā¤ļø

šŸ˜‚This made me smile! Smoked Ika Legs! Ika is squid. Do squid have legs?! I was on the snack isle of the store. Lots of fun stuff there. I settled on the dried cuttlefish, very similar to squid. šŸ˜

We made latkes! Theyā€™re grated potatoes formed into patties, and fried to crispy deliciousness! Traditionally served with applesauce or sour cream (or ketchupšŸ˜). They went great with the roast I made. šŸ’™ I wanted to wish a happy Hanukkah to my friends who celebrate! Love and light! Aloha!

Soggy chickens! Weā€™ve been getting quite a bit of rain this week. The wild chickens we have here donā€™t seem to mind, unless itā€™s really coming down. I think theyā€™re just used to it.

Iā€™m hoping it clears up this morning so that we can go to the beach. Do you have any weekend plans?

I planted the pineapple top that I rooted a of couple weeks ago. With any luck itā€™ll fruit and weā€™ll have a sugar loaf pineapple in 18 months or so!

The Spouting Horn blow hole. Located on the south side of the island near Poipu. Such an interesting site! The views from here are beautiful. And thereā€™s almost always turtles swimming around, theyā€™re so much fun to watch. Have a great day friends, happy Thursday! Aloha!

An easy, economical and delicious dinner! And fun to eat! Zucchini Fritters. My friend Michelle Stover shared this recipe on her page. Thanks Michelle! The fritters are made with zucchini, eggs, feta cheese and onions. Theyā€™re served with a tangy Greek yogurt sauce. It looked so tasty, I had to try. Iā€™ve made them twice since then, my family loves them. So yummy and crispy!

Whatā€™s for dinner at your house?

PS This would be a great recipe for my gardening friends to save come summer when they have a bumper crop of zucchini! šŸ˜

Iā€™ve always liked ponds. Hereā€™s one thatā€™s home to our goldfish. I love the sound of the water and I think that the fish are fun to watch. Itā€™s pretty cute to see them sleep together, they line up like fish in a sardine can! šŸ˜‚ This pond was easy to make, itā€™s a large plastic barrel, some pebbles, plants and a pump to circulate the water. The plants help to keep the water clean and the fish provide nourishment for the plants. Itā€™s a win win!
