🚨 I'M SHOUTING THIS ONE FROM THE ROOFTOPS: PAY ATTENTION TO SCHOOL BUSES. 🚨

A child in Georgetown, Kentucky, was crossing the road to get on a school bus when police say 39-year-old Ashley Dawn Parsons drove past the bus's extended STOP arm, struck the child... and kept driving.

Thankfully, the child's injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

But this story hit me a little differently because I have a confession to make.

Years ago, there seemed to be story after story about children being hit while getting on or off school buses. They were drilling it into everyone's heads:

SEE THE BUS. SEE THE LIGHTS. SEE THE STOP SIGN. STOP.

And I remember realizing that I had been guilty of simply not paying enough attention to school buses.

I was horrified thinking about how many times I may have driven right past one without even registering what was happening—and how many bus drivers or parents probably cursed me out for it.

Rightfully so.

And then just the other day, I caught myself looking at my phone. When I looked back up, a school bus was stopping and that stop sign was coming out. I was almost already passing it. AND The boy crossed right in front of me after getting off the bus!

I was SO mad at myself.

And now, here comes this story.

So I'm taking the hint and shouting it from my little corner of the internet:

🛑 PAY ATTENTION TO SCHOOL BUSES.

When you see that big yellow bus slowing down, don't wait until the stop arm is already out to start paying attention.

Assume a child could be about to step into that road.

Put the phone down. Slow down. Watch the lights. Watch the bus. Watch for little feet.

Those few seconds of paying attention could literally be the difference between a child getting safely onto that bus... and a family receiving a phone call that changes their lives forever.

And yes—I'm reminding myself too. ❤️

🚨 40 YEARS — AND THIS STORY IS FAR FROM OVER.

The young man pictured on the right is Nolan Stallings.

He was 17 years old when authorities say his girlfriend’s 8-year-old brother, Charles Walker, was abused and tortured over a period of several days inside a Highlands, Texas home.

When Charles was eventually taken to the hospital with catastrophic injuries, Stallings reportedly tried to explain them by saying the little boy “fell down a lot.”

Doctors weren’t buying it.

Charles’ injuries were so severe that his father later said they were compared to what you might see in an unrestrained victim of a 70–80 mph car crash. 🤯😳

Charles died days later.

Now 19, Stallings has pleaded guilty to injury to a child with serious bodily injury and has been sentenced to 40 YEARS in prison.

And the young woman beside him?

That is Kara Walker — Charles’ own sister and Stallings’ girlfriend at the time.

She is also charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury. Authorities allege both teens participated in abusing Charles with blunt objects. Kara has denied hurting her brother and says she is being falsely charged. Her case remains pending.

I’ll be coming back to this case with a reel focused much more on Charles — the little boy his family called “Little Man” — and what authorities say happened during those horrific days.

But for now?

Nolan Stallings can have the stage.

Forty years.

Just because she was big sis... don't mean she was protective of her baby brother. 😞😓

There has to be a reason her face is next to his. I am keeping an eye on this case to find out what part she played.

WTF DID I JUST READ?! 😳

Police say 27-year-old daycare employee Kayla Mae Canler threatened to “shoot up” the daycare where she worked.

Her alleged reason?

SHE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE CHILDREN OUTSIDE BECAUSE .... IT WAS HOT.....

Investigators say Canler admitted she knew threatening the daycare would trigger a lockdown — which meant she and the children would be required to remain inside.

And when they say “heat wave,” we're talking temperatures reaching the high 90s.

Listen... I don't particularly want to stand outside in 98-degree weather either. 😂 But somewhere between “Man, it's hot out there” and “Let me manufacture a violent threat against a building full of children” there HAD to be another option.

AND.... It didn't JUST CAUSE A LOCKDOWN..

An innocent former employee and her husband were initially suspected, questioned for hours, and reportedly had their pictures circulated online while people demanded their arrests.

All because, according to police, one employee didn't want to go outside.

Is this the ultimate extreme of “I WILL get my way” behavior?

Because I am genuinely struggling to understand the thought process that gets a person from Point A to Point B here. 😳

Canler has been charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and making a false report that generates an emergency response.

💥LADIES… GENTLEMEN… HERE WE ARE AGAIN. ‼️‼️

Another tiny child. Another boyfriend trusted to care for a baby who was not his own. And according to prosecutors, this 15-month-old little girl lasted only about ONE HOUR in his care.

There is something I will continue saying on this page because these stories continue giving us reasons to say it:

WHO YOU DATE AND WHO YOU TRUST ALONE WITH YOUR CHILD ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT DECISIONS.

Someone can be wonderful to you.
They can make you laugh.
They can tell you they love your children.
They can seem patient while you're standing right there.

None of that tells you how they will respond when a toddler has been crying for 30 minutes… won't eat… won't sleep… has a tantrum… or simply behaves like a toddler when you are nowhere around.

Your boyfriend is not automatically your babysitter.

Your girlfriend is not automatically your babysitter.

And being in love with someone does not automatically qualify them to be alone with the most vulnerable person in your life.

This isn't about assuming every new partner is a monster. Most aren't.

It's about understanding that your child cannot afford for you to find out the hard way about the one who is.

A relationship can be replaced.

Your baby cannot.

🚨 THIS IS WHY I DON’T LIKE SLEEPOVERS. BOYS OR GIRLS.

You can know the parents.

You can trust the parents.

You can have been inside their home a hundred times.

But do you know every person who may walk through their door while your child is there?

According to police, a 12-year-old girl attending a sleepover in North Carolina was allegedly kidnapped by her friend’s uncle. Authorities say she was forced into a wooded area before she managed to escape, eventually hiding in a ditch until she was found.

And THIS is what scares me about sleepovers.

The danger doesn't necessarily have to come from the parents whose home you trusted.

It could be an uncle. A brother. An older sibling. A boyfriend. A family friend. Someone visiting unexpectedly. Someone the family themselves trusts completely and would never imagine harming a child.

Your child is also there during some of their most vulnerable hours — asleep, away from you, in an unfamiliar environment where you cannot see who is coming and going.

And the hosting parents can genuinely love your child and intend to keep them safe. That still doesn't mean they can predict the actions of every person around them.

Sometimes families don't discover what someone close to them is capable of until something has already happened.

This little girl reportedly got away.

That part could have been very different.

I'm not telling another parent how to raise their children. I'm saying stories like this are exactly why some parents have decided that sleepovers simply aren't worth the risk.

Because you're not only trusting the parents. You're trusting their entire environment.

Would you still allow your child to spend the night at a friend's house?

🚨 SHE GAINED THIS MOTHER’S TRUST FOR A YEAR — THEN POLICE SAY SHE TOOK HER CHILDREN.

Two young sisters, 4-year-old Zola Cooper and her 11-month-old sister Norah, were reported abducted in Atlanta after police say their babysitter, 42-year-old Lakesha Brown, took them.

According to police, Brown had spent about a year gaining the mother’s trust before the alleged abduction.

An Amber Alert was issued — but thankfully, this story has the ending everyone was hoping for:

❤️ BOTH LITTLE GIRLS HAVE BEEN FOUND SAFE.

The children were taken to the hospital as a precaution, and Brown was taken into custody. She has been charged with kidnapping and is being held without bond.

That detail about a YEAR of building trust really sticks with me. We talk so much about being careful with strangers, but sometimes the person who gains access to a child isn't a stranger anymore. They're someone a parent has slowly learned to trust.

Thankfully, these babies are safe. ❤️

🚨 AN ARGUMENT OVER CLEANING ENDED WITH A MOTHER DEAD — AND POLICE SAY HER 18-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER HELPED PLAN IT.

Dr. Tamela Dutcher, 55, was fatally shot inside her Delaware, Ohio home shortly after midnight on August 14.

According to authorities, Tamela and her 18-year-old daughter, Bryanna Dutcher, had gotten into a physical argument the day before over cleaning.

Police say Bryanna later vented to her boyfriend, Christian Evans, 20, who allegedly responded:

“If I were you, I would have killed her.”

But prosecutors say what happened next went far beyond an angry comment.

Investigators allegedly recovered deleted text messages from Bryanna's phone that appeared to show she and Evans were planning her mother's killing in advance.

Authorities say Evans and his roommate, Dajameous Payne, 21, left their apartment roughly 90 minutes before the shooting. Tamela was later shot in the face inside her kitchen.

Her husband, Neil King, was reportedly trying to give his wife first aid when shots were also fired toward him. He was not hit.

Bryanna initially faced an obstruction charge after police said she lied to protect her boyfriend. She, Evans and Payne are now all charged with murder and are being held on $3 million bond each. Authorities have not publicly said which man allegedly pulled the trigger.

And there is one haunting to this story:

Tamela was a doctor who co-authored a 2002 academic article titled:

“The violent and homicidal adolescent. Hearts darkened before time.”

More than two decades later, prosecutors say her own teenage daughter helped plan her killing.

All charges are allegations unless and until proven in court.

‼️A 10-YEAR-OLD BOY WAS FOUND UNCONSCIOUS WITH ONLY A “FAINT PULSE.” ‼️

And investigators say fentanyl was scattered throughout the hotel room where he was staying.

Police in Fort Myers, Florida, say 34-year-old Robert Dillard — the child’s father — and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Tasianna Squires, were staying at a Quality Suites with the boy.

According to the arrest affidavit, Dillard called 911 after finding his 10-year-old son unresponsive.

When deputies arrived, the child was unconscious with a faint pulse. Paramedics administered Narcan through his nose, but he did not respond. They then gave Narcan through an IV — and thankfully, he began responding.

Testing later showed fentanyl in the child’s system.

During a search of the room, investigators say they found drug paraphernalia, approximately 10 grams of fentanyl behind a refrigerator, and additional fentanyl inside tote bags throughout the room.

Squires allegedly admitted to using drugs but denied leaving them within reach of children. Dillard declined to speak with investigators without an attorney.

Both have been charged with child neglect and trafficking in fentanyl and were being held without bond at the time of reporting.

Addiction can destroy an adult’s life — but when children are living in that environment, they are being exposed to dangers they cannot possibly understand or protect themselves from.

Using drugs can cause a person to not see things how they actually are. Like as if already breaking the rules and doing them gives you a pass to not really try anymore at anything else.

Thankfully, this child survived. ❤️‍🩹

She was one day away from turning 7 months old. 💔

Baby Celia Colby died after being found unresponsive in her father’s basement in Murray, Utah, in January 2025.

Now, after a 17-month investigation, her father, C Neal Colby, 32, has been arrested and accused of reckless child abuse homicide and child endangerment resulting in death.

According to investigators, Celia had bruising on her nose, cheek and chin. A child-abuse pediatrician reportedly told police that the pattern of injury on her nose can be seen when a caregiver pinches a baby’s nose shut and said manual obstruction of her airway could not be ruled out.

Her father initially claimed Celia may have pulled a blanket over her face. Doctors reportedly found that explanation unlikely.

When Celia’s mother was alerted that her baby wasn’t breathing, she reportedly noticed that Celia’s body felt stiff. She immediately began CPR and told Colby to call 911.

Police say he refused.

Her mother ultimately made the 911 call herself while trying to save her baby.

Investigators also allege phone evidence showed Colby had left Celia alone for approximately 45 minutes that morning, despite telling police he had been checking on her hourly.

The exact cause and manner of Celia’s death have not been determined, and the allegation that her nose may have been pinched remains part of the investigators’ theory — not a proven finding.

But one thing is painfully clear: Celia was only a baby. She deserved protection, urgency and every possible effort to save her. 💔

A 20-year-old allegedly picked the WRONG house. 😳

San Antonio police say Noah Davidson, 20, had been damaging a vehicle and attempting to break into homes when he allegedly entered the home of a 75-year-old man.

But the homeowner was not helpless.

Police say the 75-year-old confronted Davidson inside his home and stabbed him multiple times in the upper body. Davidson was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries — and survived.

He was later charged with first-degree felony burglary and bonded out on a $50,000 bond.

Imagine being 75 years old, minding your business in your own home, and suddenly having to physically defend yourself against someone 55 years younger than you.

That is terrifying. Your home is supposed to be the one place you feel safe.
