As many of you are aware, Vanity Press Records label founder Dave has been arrested for domestic violence. Orders have not been shipped since May 21, 2020 - if you have not yet received a purchased order, please contact Bandcamp or PayPal directly for your money back as the order will not be completed.
Thank you to everyone that had supported Vanity Press Records over the past 6 years. Most of all, thanks to all the artists for creating moving music that made the label what it was. Sincerest apologies to the artists who were not paid as promised. I encourage you to reach out to these artists in order to purchase their music directly, and continue supporting their independent releases.
The consequences of this devastating news is beyond music or financial value. Women’s lives are put in danger by the hands of their partners every day. Please familiarize yourself on the signs. Hold your abusive friends accountable - don’t wait until a public announcement to address their actions. Consider donating to victims and survivors if you are able to. Check in on your loved ones. If you suspect they are living in a threatening environment, assist in relocating them to a safe space (emotionally, physically, mentally).
I would also like to address Dave’s lifelong battle of mental instability. Although his mental health does not justify his actions, it is important to raise awareness on the dangers of improperly coping with mental illnesses. Please stay in touch with your friends and family and help those in recovery of substance use.
Below are some resources that you may benefit from- whether it be for personal use, self-awareness, or sharing with others.
