o pieces that people think are worthless. Painting and restoring helps me destress from the craziness of life. There are many people who love to save good junk like I do and I love to share what I find and what I know with them. Everyone who helps me save the treasures and make them pretty again I call my Junk Army. What a strong group of amazingly creative people. This passion has grown into a small business and allowed me to retire from teaching and do this full-time. I love to wake up each day and do what I love. I also love to get to spend extra time with my daughter. I use DIY Paint, Sweet Pickins Milk Paint, and JRV products and more to make everything pretty again. I sell all of my furniture, home decor, salvage, antiques and more in my booth at Plaza Antiques & Collectibles Mall, 2621 Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, MI. I also have an online store at shoptheturnedleg.com. I also sell items for others to finish their own projects or even start new ones. My goal is to help to teach others to see the value in "junk", join my Junk Army & get out there to salvage, repurpose & create.

Have an old frame? Make it pretty for the holidays! ✨
I love swapping out my art for each season, but I definitely don’t have an unlimited budget.
This time I grabbed a thrifted frame, painted it with Sweet Pickins Milk Paint in In a Pickle, added black oil wax, and popped in some vintage sheet music with an IOD Christmas Joy transfer.
The best part? I can change out the frame for something new anytime I want. Easy, affordable, and totally charming. ❤️🎄

Thrift Flip for Christmas! 🎄✨
Check out the before of this sweet little box! I gave it new life using DIY Paint Cottage Color in Provincial, then added the Partridge Lane transfer from Iron Orchid Designs. To finish it off, I brushed on some snowy texture with DIY Paint White Swan, a little Paint Frosting, and of course… glitter. ❄️✨
Now it’s the perfect box for storing Christmas cards, keepsakes, or holiday memories. ❤️

I forgot how FUN paint pouring is… until I made these ornaments. 🎨✨
For each one, I used a simple 50/50 mix of DIY Paint + Big Top, and watching the colors swirl is seriously addicting.

Our Story

I believe that everyone should have the right to a beautiful home. As a teacher and single mother with a very limited budget I have to get creative. I shop thrift stores and tag sales and friends’ homes to salvage pieces of furniture and repurpose them, giving those pieces a life. The technique I use depends upon the piece. I refinish furniture, using DIY Paint. I love to distress and create a chippy finish and blended finishes. With a lot of meticulous work, I can give new life and a new purpose to my finds. All of my pieces are one-of-a-kind. Each piece has character, a past life, and that’s what I love about them. Since my house can hold only so much and I continue to find amazing pieces, I decided to start a business to share what I make with others. I also want to share the tricks and tips that I have learned with others to inspire their own creativity. The Turned Leg sells painted furniture, DIY Paint Products, JRV Stencils, Paint Pixie Brushes, antiques, salvage and home goods at Plaza Antiques & Collectibles Mall in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
