Hood River, OR + White Salmon, WA 👇🏼

We spent a week in the Columbia River Gorge and it was so amazing!! There were so many more hikes and restaurants that we just didn’t have time to get to, so this is by no means an exhaustive list.

Also, we were happy to have rented a 4WD truck to get to our airbnb and some of the hikes!

We absolutely loved our Airbnb in White Salmon, WA. It was close enough to downtown and Hood River, but tucked away in nature along the White Salmon River. Hosts were great. Highly recommend and hope to go back.

I think I could get used to the creek life ⛰️💦🐸

We just got back from a week vacation in the Columbia River Gorge (specifically Hood River, OR & White Salmon, WA).

It was just the relaxing reset I needed (okay, maybe I did a LITTLE work while I was gone 😬)

Hikes, creeks, wind sports, good food, new friends, old friends, and a cozy airbnb on a river… we definitely plan to go back.

What a legend!! Congrats greybeardsanders! 🎉

He’s officially beat the age record for hiking the appalachiantrail on Monday, 8/31!

I can’t believe he moves like that at 91 years old… after a massive day of hiking! 🥾🤯

I will forever be inspired by “Grey Beard” after having the opportunity to sit and chat with him at the appalachianmountainclub Mizpah Spring Hut in the New Hampshire White Mountains this summer.

Hut to Hut Itinerary, White Mountains, NH 👇🏼

Galehead Hut > Zealand Falls Hut
📍Pemigewassett Wilderness

📌 SAVE for later!

Day 1 🥾
- Park, or get dropped off by AMC Shuttle, at Gale River Trailhead (book shuttle ahead of time)
- NO restrooms, NO water at the Trailhead

- Hike Gale River Trailhead to Galehead Hut
- 5.45 miles
- 2,375 feet elevation gain, 36 feet loss
- Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging

- Optional: Hike .7 mile, 276 feet elevation gain and loss, up to Galehead Mountain and back to summit a “NH 4,000 footer”

Day 2 🥾
- Hike Galehead Hut to Zealand Falls Hut
- 7.8 miles
- 1,982 feet elevation gain, 3,077 feet elevation loss
- Difficulty: Challenging to Strenuous

- Tip: Make sure to stop at the Zeacliff viewpoint!
- NH 4,000 footers summited: South Twin, Guyot, Zealand

Day 3 🥾
- Hike Zealand Falls Hut to Zealand Trailhead
- 2.8 miles
- 48 feet elevation gain, 628 feet elevation loss
- Difficulty: Easy

- Drive, or get picked up by AMC Shuttle, at Zealand Trailhead (book shuttle ahead of time)
- YES restrooms, NO water at the Trailhead

- Tip: Save time in the morning to go for a cold plunge in the River right next to the hut!
