*Everything in life is a process*
I watched candy being made today. Sugar poured, water in the sugar, heat applied, color folded in like a secret. It stretched, thinned, thickened, and cooled into something sweet and certain. It was not instant. It was steps. It was time. It was process.
And I thought: this is all of us.
The Unfolding
We enter the world unfinished. A child arrives raw, loud, demanding to be shaped. There are sleepless nights that feel like boiling sugar, waiting for calm. There are school days that pull and twist us into form. Friendships that crack us, heal us, and harden us again. We do not become who we are in one pour. We become in layers.
Adulthood is not a destination you wake up in. It is a slow cook. You try jobs that scorch. You love people who melt you down to your center. You fail, and failure is the cooling table where you learn what shape you can actually hold. Grief visits and tempers you. Joy visits and adds color. Nothing is wasted. Even the broken pieces get gathered, reheated, and rolled into the next batch.
Pull Quote
“We want the finished candy without honoring the heat. But there is no sweetness without the simmer.”
