Our page in FB is designed to guide you to our daily publications. We will not report news on FB, but will provide friends with headlines and links to stories so that they may visit Lincoln Daily News and read all the latest information from Lincoln and Logan County. Examples of this may be links to new

postings in our classifieds sections, reminders of items listed on our community calendar pages, and we may also choose to highlight from time to time one or more of our advertisers or section sponsors. Because we are an online publication, a small firm, and always busy, we will not be a constant presence on our page. We will check the page one to two times per day; will add daily updates in the mornings on a regular basis, and will also add updates during the day if we have new or breaking news to report. We all know that FB is a great place for friends to interact with one another, and we welcome the opportunity to get to know our readers and have them get to know us. There are a few things that we respectfully request our friends not do on FB. FB is not the place for you to send us leads on interesting stories or events. Because we are not constantly on FB, your lead could go several hours without being noted, and we could miss the opportunity to follow up. If you have a piece of news you’d like to share, or a lead to an interesting story you think everyone would enjoy, please continue to send that information to our Managing Editor at [email protected]. If you have a special event coming up, we encourage you to post that in our Community Calendar. Go to our Community page in Lincoln Daily News and click on “submit an entry for LDN calendar of events". The page is easy to fill out, plus it is viewed by a person on our staff before it is posted, so if your information is unclear, someone will contact you before it is posted. Lincoln Daily News is humbled by the number of local advertisers we have in our daily editions. We have advertising throughout our paper that ranges from small ads in individual stories, to sponsorships of special sections. Our FB page is not the best place to tell our advertising staff you might be interested in joining our long list of local advertisers. If you are interested in promoting your business in Lincoln Daily News we encourage you to contact our Director of Advertising; Karen Hargis. Karen has years of experience in advertising and can help you design an ad that will fit your needs and your budget. You can contact Karen by emailing [email protected].

Thursday night the body shop area at Collision Concepts was wall to wall people as a large crowd turned out for the annual Pink Pumpkin Auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. It is estimated that there were more than 200 people who came out with checkbooks in hand to bid and buy one or more of the wonderful items that had been donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals.

The numbers have not been finalized yet, but based on the information at hand, this year the auction in its entirety, with live auction items, silent auction items, luminaria sales, mystery bag sales and cash donations is going to reach or exceed $25,000. All that money will be sent directly to the American Cancer Society to aid in patient support and research.

The ballroom of the Lincoln Park District was a lively and joyful scene on Saturday night as the River Valley Big Band brought some swing to Lincoln in support of Lincoln Community Theatre. Swing dancers from Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Delavan, and other central Illinois communities enjoyed a free swing dance lesson at 5:30 followed by classic swing tunes of the Big Band era performed by the 16 piece band from Peoria. Jon Young of Young Dance, Inc. organized and co-hosted the event as a fundraiser for LCT, the first time he has organized a benefit for this organization.

Children from Lincoln Christian Church Preschool had an up-close and hands-on lesson in fire safety this week when Assistant Fire Chief Ben Roland of the Lincoln Fire Department rolled a fire truck into the church parking lot.

The visit brought excitement and curiosity to the preschoolers, who are ages three to five. Roland, whose station sits just a short distance from the church, quickly captured their attention by describing what it means to be a firefighter.

On October 10th, 2025, members of the Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Fire Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County Paramedics Association, other first responders and Lincoln District 27 Schools will participate in a scenario based training program at the Lincoln Junior High School. Traffic may be interrupted in the 200 Block of Broadway Street, due to this training exercise.

The exercise is meant to better prepare all participants in responding to and managing a large scale incident at a school or other large public space. There will be Police, Fire and EMS activity at the Lincoln Junior High School, which is not in session that day, as well as the surrounding area. Citizens should not be alarmed by this activity. It is strictly a training scenario that will enhance our ability to appropriately respond to a major incident. The activity is planned for approximately 9:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m.
