We're incredibly excited and grateful to welcome back Al Hughes Auction Service for this year's rodeo banquet. Last year, Al, Korrina, and their whole family went above and beyond to support our team, and their help truly made a huge difference for us. Their generosity, time, and heart did not go unnoticed, and we're so thankful to have them back this year and as a part of our rodeo family. ❤️

Back to school. Back to work.💪

While campus was just waking up, our team was already in the weight room at 6:30 a.m. Today marks the first day of classes and another step in building discipline within UNL Rodeo.

Discipline is choosing growth over comfort. It’s showing up early, staying consistent, and committing to the standard when no one’s watching. This is how champions are built, one morning at a time.

Announcing our 2026 Rodeo Banquet and Alumni Reunion Speaker! 🎉

Sarah J. Bohnenkamp is a leadership coach, speaker, and strategist with deep ties toagriculture, rodeo, and the development of young leaders. Known for her high energy and
straight-talk approach, she has spent more than two decades working on nearly 200 stages helping individuals and organizations communicate boldly, lead with confidence, and reject average.

A former rodeo queen, Sarah’s connection to the arena is personal and long-standing. She has worked closely with the rodeo industry for years, including with Vold Rodeo Company, has a deep appreciation for bucking horses, and recently served as a Miss Rodeo America judge. She understands firsthand the discipline, grit, and leadership demanded by rodeo athletes.

Sarah is also deeply committed to developing the next generation of agricultural leaders. Through her work with the Agricultural Future of America (AFA) and other leadership programs, she has coached and challenged college students and young professionals to step into leadership early, own their voice, and lead with courage—skills that matter just as much outside the arena as they do in it.

We're so excited to have Sarah join us and this is one you won't want to miss! RSVP here: https://form.jotform.com/253224252717150

Meet Cayson Johnston, our civil engineering intern and a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Cayson splits his time between coursework, the UNL rodeo team, and learning the ropes with our crew. He brings strong communication skills, a willingness to lead, and an interest in practical engineering that supports agriculture.

Here is what he shared about joining Hazard Engineering:

“I chose Hazard Engineering because I’m excited to gain hands-on experience with an engineering company that focuses on real-world problem solving and safety. Through this internship, I look forward to developing skills that will support my long-term goal of contributing to agricultural development here and across the world.”

Glad to have you on the team, Cayson!

We wrapped up the semester with an amazing team night at Madsen's Bowling & Billiards, where Joe Stone and owners Sara & Brady hosted us for a team bonding night!

We’re so grateful for their hospitality and even more grateful for the chance to learn a piece of their story. We saw the heart they pour into their business and the impact they make in the Lincoln community. It’s inspiring to meet people who lead with kindness, commitment, and genuine care for those around them.

Thank you, Joe, Sara, and Brady, for opening your doors to us, for supporting our team, and for reminding us what community truly looks like. We’re proud to know you, grateful to learn from you, and thankful for the memories made. ❤️
